Second, how bad would it look in the interview if I told them about needing the time off? I don't wanna be the "what can you do for me" guy and I certainly don't want to ruffle any feathers.

Should I wait to apply?
Just be forthright in the interview... Tell them hey I want to work here, but I won't be able to start here until after our honeymoon. We need people and they're not going to send you packing just because you can't start right away, as it stands there is not a chance you could get ten days off even if you started class already. Someone more qualified than me could tell you if that's a possibility with some seniority in the CRJ as far as the 175 is concerned it's doable depending on what month it is/block hours and how senior you are. (I say that now, but I tried for 10 in a row in August and let's just say its been my worst bid ever since starting here.)

Thanks for the responses! I didn't even know deferring was an option to be honest. Guess I'll have plenty of time to study if I get the job!

I know a guy that had to call in sick the day after his wedding, does that answer your question?

Haha well not really, but at least it sounds like he had a good time!

I don't believe you can take any vacation in your first year. Someone could correct me if I'm wrong. And even if you had the hours, good luck using them if you haven't bid for time off in the master bid which will happen in November. (And you'd need to be qualified, online, and in the domicile you plan to stay in in order to get to bid. -- You lose your vacation slot when transferring.)

This is correct. You accrue vacation but can't use it until year two. On my anniversary date my bank suddenly jumped from 0 to 20 hours or so. Also it's good to note that in places like msp there's so much turnover that as an FO there's usually a fair amount of open vacation slots, as long as it's not a holiday or something highly desirable, you can request a vacation day two months out as long as you have vacation hours to burn. But again, that wouldn't be until your anniversary date

When I was on first year, twice crew support moved my reserve days around so I could attend weddings. Rare, but an option.
Depending how fast you get a class, getting out of sim before then could be a pinch.

$40 million profit. That's pretty good. I only listened to part of the earnings call.
