I hope so! This month's bid went way senior for CRJ CA in my home base. Would be nice to see those numbers improve.

Amazingly enough there are 588 FOs (give or take 10 or 20) who are more senior than the most junior CA just awarded. Given that we only have about 2000 FOs, that is a pretty large percentage.

Tells you something about life on reserve, or life commuting, or life commuting to reserve that nearly 600 pilots have bypassed upgrade to be able to hold a schedule they want in their home base.
My beard puts me in that group.

Of course you couldn't. No talent. I'll be well out of here when you and the others who couldn't get out finally realize it's your fate to be a lifer and then it will INDEED be poetic justice. Yeah. Upgrade isn't far off and even with some serious cutbacks in flying on the way, I'll be out.

Probably 200 afraid to upgrade, and will likely never even try (or fail miserably if they do).

Another 200 have jobs or businesses which pay enough that upgrade isn't important, plus they need the schedule flexibility for their other gig.

The other 200 are waiting for some combination of base/seniority before they pull the trigger.

Of those probably 300 will upgrade eventually, but not many of them any time soon. In general people who take the first upgrade don't move backwards in CA seniority. It can happen in a niche domicile, or if a domicile shrinks, but once you upgrade your global CA seniority should keep improving.

I know a couple of us are waiting until the holidays are over, I don't anticipate getting them off for awhile once we upgrade.

Yup. Although judging by my base, the majority probably have other gigs. Quite a high percentage of FOs have other jobs, I personally know quite a few of them. Not sure how it is in other bases, but for those guys, upgrading makes zero financial sense...
