I don't think the guys that need the CTP course are senior for that reason are they? Wouldn't they be given a seniority number when they show up for CTP? If the new hire with 121 experience would start class before the other one started CTP wouldn't the one with 121 time then be senior?
To me that makes sense. Whoever starts class first is more senior. Be it CTP or RJ class they are beginning their Skywest employed training.
I don't know any more fair way to do it. Interview date doesn't work because you could be offered the job but defer your class date for several months.
Ranking seniority based on prior experience could get pretty hairy. What about the guys coming out of the woodwork with years of prior 121 time but no ATP? Or someone with 121 time and an ATP but no type? Or 135 time with ATP and type but no 121 time?
Way too many combinations and no right answer for who is "more qualified".
So again not sure if this is how they are doing it or not but most fair way is when you start training at Skywest you get a Skywest seniority number.

Let me clarify my example then: both are offered same ground school date. One has to show up early for an extra class because he/she/it lacks an essential qualification that the company is now willing to foot the bill for--an essential qualification the other pilot already has.

It sounds like the company has made this realization on its own and are no longer granting in-class seniority to newhires who need the CTP.

Thanks for the info. Now they just need to go in and redo the seniority of classes where they treated CTP people as prior employees.

Guys/Girls,

It was mentioned during my interview that SEA and PDX bases for the ERJ was expanding. Is this due to the new aircraft arriving in Alaska Airlines colors?

What's the chances of a new hire on the ERJ getting a SEA or PDX base?

Very goo. New hires have been awarded both bases before finishing training. The Alaska birds as well as new ERJs for Delta are the reason for the major base expansion.

Hey guys,
I'm starting training in about a month and am looking at DEN since that is where I'm from. How long to get this on the CRJ side?

What's the DOH of the most junior line holder in SEA (E175)?

7/15, roughly. Not possible to determine with certainty.
