Yeah kinda, you get a lot of short legs on the 200 that block less than an hour, which means you end up doing 4-5 sometimes 6 of them a day for what ends up being at or just over the min credit of 4:12. On a typical 4 day it usually averages out to 4 legs per day for 5 hours of credit. DTW opening has helped with efficiency a little but it could still be better. MSP standups are generally pretty great though, much better than most other bases but that is why they go relatively senior. Overall it's a tough base to build pairings for, especially with so many commuters, that's why there are always so many 4 days.

So long time to upgrade out of FAT? What are the trips like out of that base?

Curious as to where most of the pilots who move on from skywest are going? Mostly Delta, or UA, AA, and others.

The Junior guy is at five years. The person above him is close to ten years. The base is so small that captain spots hardly ever open.

Any idea how long they were at SKW before moving on or how many hours got them into the majors? I'd be interested in moving on to Delta or United after my time at SkyWest and was hoping in the time frame of 5-6 years after I start in a couple months.

Really no one knows the secret. There's FOs that get hired at mainline quite often. Many mainlines don't have a turbine pic requirement. For most people it seems they need 1000 Turbine PIC to move on. A lot of people that move on have been here 6-12 years but that number is artificially high considering the non-existent or very low hiring at mainline for many years (retirement going from 60->65 etc) i.e. The lost generation.

FAT, being an outstation, has a lot of trips that start early in the morning on day one and end in the evening or late at night on the last day. There simply aren't many mid day flights to allow either later starts or earlier releases.

Last bid FAT was mostly start early and end late 3 days, with a few straight AM or PM 2 day trips, and a few day trips.

I've seen guys (no prior military time) get hired at United after 4 years and no PIC time, 6 years go to Delta with barely any captain time, and guys with 12+ years get hired at both, plus everything in between.
