Just got off the phone with hiring, they told me 2 years for any transition (new hires or otherwise, Company need notwithstanding).
Apparently new hires were saying "I don't care which plane" then a year later "I didn't get to choose!"
Anyway, it's now 2 years now across the board.
I'm still going down the path with the E175, but two years more than a CRJ to upgrade and move on to a livable salary... lots of second guessing.

Another thing to keep in mind that these two year upgrades you read about are only happening back east. All of the bases Denver and west take years longer.

You do realize that no matter what aircraft you get hired into you can take the upgrade on any aircraft as soon as your seniority allows it and you meet the minimums. Get hired into the 175 and upgrade on the CRJ no problem, or vice versa.

Though it sounds like it's a mute point, since that'll take more than 2 years.
Are there just more hours flown back East?

A lot of people traditionally came to Skywest to live in the western half of the country so most of those domicile are more senior than the east.

Most junior lineholder 175 CA/SFO has been here 11.5 years.
And remember, that's the MOST JUNIOR lineholder.
Kinda puts that under-2-year upgrade into perspective...

I think the junior captain in SLC has over 10 years.

Is this info on APC regarding bonus correct?
"SkyWest is currently offering a $7500 bonus for those currently flying for a FAA Part 135 or has a type rating in a turbo jet aircraft > 12,500lbs. To be paid out upon completion of IOE."

yes. $7500, but you'll pay a lot of that to the government.

The employer typically withholds Bonus taxes at a simple 25% for all employees instead of going through all your W-2s. Then at tax time you square up with the government. If you effective tax rate is less than 25% you will get the difference back in the refund check. If you are in a higher tax bracket than 25% you will pay the difference.
States vary on how they get theirs.
TL;DR: The bonus is taxed at your normal income rate when all said and done.
