SWAPA forum was useful at one time. Now it is down to a few participants that constantly echo the same crap back and forth to each other. I have given up there. It's useless to post any sort of moderate viewpoint.
As far as the "charts and figures" guy, he comes off as a well informed unionist at first, but he is a dyed in the wool know it all full tilt conspiracy theorist. Go on Prune and read some of his stuff. Eye opening, and not in a good way.
As far as the China thing goes on the SWAPA forum, again, it's two or three guys who just can't help but touch the hot frying pan. Who cares? The only reason they are saying China Flu or whatever is to irritate people and look cool. It goes over like someone's racist grandpa.
If we end up furloughing, half the remaining company is still going to be picking up open time. It is what it is. I won't do it and I will shame those that do.

SWA is still in “transformation” phase while the legacies passed that generations ago. This crisis will probably swing that one way or he other depending on the outcome.
Myself, I have a lot of respect for the company but I think the “empires and silos” are becoming a detriment and are being rightfully and thankfully called out by SWAPA
Im also in that “could be furloughed” seniority
The thought of which terrifies me. Doing our best to prepare.

To be fair, I think if you're in the bottom 50% of the list you're in the "could be furloughed" danger zone.
This is so unprecedented an event that there is no telling how much they'll want to cut or for how long. All we can do is be prepared.
I take some solace in the fact that one avoidance bid Captain will be bumped down to FO where hopefully he will have to put up with some other Captain who treats him as lousy as he treats his own FOs

A temporary reduction in monthly guarantee would make a lot of sense for a lot of people. Just spitballing, in the 30% furlough situation above obviously it makes sense for the bottom 30%. Also junior captains since losing 3000+ FO’s would result in 1500+ downgrades. Add in everyone else worried about being displaced from their domicile.

That being said, I don’t know that a furlough won’t extend beyond 50% into the seniority list. It wouldn’t completely surprise me if we end up furloughing 60-70%.
Realistically, though, we are overmanned by 2,000 versus our traditional manning models right off the bat. I think it’s highly likely, in light of that, that we end up furloughing about 3,000 on Oct 1.
This situation sucks. Maybe things will turn around as the months progress and we’ll entirely avoid a furlough. One prominent Oppenheimer analyst just declared we’ve already experienced a bottom to the stock market and we’ve entered a new bull market. That idea doesn’t match very well, though, with what’s going on in the real economy at the moment with 20 million newly unemployed and much of the country’s and the world’s economy still shut down.
