the lone FO in that thread actually used that acronym. I hadn’t seen that before but the context was pretty easy.
I have to say that I was taken aback by the whole thread. Hopefully the individuals running their keyboard-mouths are in the minority. Hopefully we won’t have to see how many in the association actually feel that way. At least they put their names to their opinions. I’ll be sure to make sure I do everything possible to stay away from them and their flight decks. I’m that p!ssed about the commentary. Nothing like stressful situations to bring out true character.

previous company I was furloughed 13 months. When I came back I had the privilege of flying with a guy who bragged about how much he flew in the last yr to me a guy who flew 0 hrs. He simply didnt get it. He's at SW now and I'm positive he'll do it again.

They will pick up
They will do it again. You will not see people stop picking up open time. I was at Airtran and we were furloughed longer then 6 months. I was out about 9 months but during that time we had many guys picking up trips. It will be no different here. Not that I think this place will furlough.

You can have 100 people crying for 'unity' and then people like him and his forum czar buddy can come in and destroy it with a few 28K number folks backing them up. Not all of us junior folks came straight from the military. Some of us have ALPA pins in our collection.. meaning, we've seen management vs. union before. He is the antitheses of a unity poster boy.
I will hope you're right and he isn't the person he came off as, for the entire heated thread. Kudo's to the FO who stood his ground.

That very well may be true, but he used those charts to prove how junior pilots (in his opinion) were at fault and responsible for taking a job during an overmanning hiring spree in the age of pilot scarcity and huge growth plans. He grossly missed an important opportunity. He then stated that he stood by his words multiple times. My mind is certainly made on the matter, about him and the others. I'm sure many others are too.

The guy in question lives to hear himself talk. Don’t waste energy on ever trying to sway him.

I’ve no dog in your particular fight, just an observation.
Regarding the koolaid of having never furloughed a pilot, is that not because SWA remained profitable throughout the crises they faced? It would have been unconscionable to furlough.
Without wishing to denigrate that accolade, or the SWA culture (great bunch, from my encounters), this is obviously a very different ballgame.
Best of luck, everyone. Now is the time to start educating, so your group isn’t blindsided into making panic decisions (concessions) when the feelers go out.
I’ve got similar concerns at my outfit.

The SWAPA forum is great for learning the contract and our past transgressions. It was instrumental in defeating TA1. I hope you guys that left will reconsider. Engage the stupidity or jot down the license plate for future reference, but stay engaged.
