The poster isn't saying anything negative about ExTO pilots. Just pointing out the irony of paying almost all open time at premium while also paying people to sit at home. We all know that's the one thing management hates around here so if their hands weren't tied by training capacity, those pilots would be on the line.
Should be interesting see how our most junior pilots feel after Xmas WARN notices followed by a summer of JA.

Or someone could point out the irony of something that coerced Congress to give said company billions of dollars while paying people to stay home AND generated the opportunity for premium pay.

I am speaking about the present situation, not the past year.
I am thankful for ExTO, thankful for our ExTO pilots, and thankful that the government has paid my salary and theirs for the better part of the last year.
We have turned the corner, though, and ExTO is no longer a win for the company at all. They will be recalled as soon as they can get them trained. I haven't seen an open time environment like this since summer 2016 and it's not even officially summer flying yet.
As I was typing this, a VPF alert popped up on my phone for a 12tfp MDW turn that nobody picked up in hourly.

I hope the premium flows like beer this summer. My first year on vacation I scored a premium 3 day paying 36tfp in the beginning of the month. Paid for new furniture for the living room. I thought this was normal until it all but dried up and two days paying less than 10tfp were hard to get.
I hope we ride the wave of prosperity for a while this time until we get a new contract not based on 108tfp/ month.

Those pilots were going to be at home either way.... on ExTO or unused on reserve. Getting them to volunteer for a paycut saved the company hundreds of millions of dollars.
I guess the ultimate irony would be a pilot who was paid 88 TFP to stay at home for months on reserve, complaining about a fellow pilot who was paid 55 TFP to stay at home on ExTO ?
