Yeah that’s what I meant. And the 85xxx guys are either already Lancing and need to upgrade or return to FO….or were bypassing and figured they better jump on it before ________ (insert next crisis here)

Boom, good to know.

Another #TechDebtWorkAroundNawledgeNugget that actually gets real close to what DHCDRIVER was after
CWA->Reports->Domicile Seniority->DO NOT Select Seat(Leave Blank)->DO NOT Select Domicile(Leave Blank)->Get Report= Yuge Master Seniority List sorted by OG Hire Date assigned Seniority#

But like flyguy81 pointed out hire dates are ?

If I do that path, it already has ATL captain preselected without an option to leave blank. What am I doing wrong?

If senior FOs are upgrading, seems like that is good for everyone.

Every FO moves up, better schedules, better vacations, better open time chances, etc.

Like everything, details matter.

The FO side is shrinking* to fund Captain upgrades. For 85 Captains to upgrades, 85 First Officer positions are removed, and these are removed unequally across the domiciles. This causes those on the bottom of shrinking domiciles to be displaced elsewhere. So from the perspective of a very junior person who gets displaced, there are still on the bottom, but now in a domicile where they have to commute, or have a worse commute. The next couple bids will see the FO side shrink even more, so they could be shuffled again, if their new base now shrinks. What fixes this is new hires.

*approximately the same amount of FOs will be bidding as ExTO First Officers return to replace upgrades, but that does nothing to help the relative seniority of someone on the bottom.

Vacation bidding seniority is already set with the September award.

That doesn’t really sound like details, it sounds like perspective.

Of course being the # last in any base is not as good as being #1.

But for the FOs on the cusp of getting off of reserve or being able to bid weekdays or non holidays…. there are now fewer people senior to them.

The pond is shrinking but there are fewer big fish in the pond.

Congrats to all the upgrades!

No FO will substantially find their seniority changed after this bid. The pool will remain about the same size with ExTO returns.

For those displaced, they will still be on weekend reserve, just at a less convenient domicile.

I actually declined in relative seniority due to VSP and ExTO. Not complaining, I’m senior enough that 1221 and base shrinking didn’t affect me, and junior enough that I don’t have to worry about upgrade. But just because you see upgrades don’t assume that automatically everyone is better off. While the medium to long term prospects look good, the next couple months will be rough.
