I only do it to the DB ops agents…

It’s like the only part of the system that is automated and works most of the time. Use it and abuse it…
this could also help you get legal for that open time bid that you’d soon be illegal for…those updates push to CWA right away!

It also works the other and creates mis connects and reroutes.

Fair enough. I missed that. I'm not sure net 1,700 is possible either. I think they'd be lucky to net 1,000 this year.

I have a good friend who retired from SWA recently after 20+ years and attempted the instructor gig. He got all the way through training and after a month threw in the towel. The schedule and overall experience fell far short of what they advertised. He was immediately hired at a local corporate outfit making a lot more than the instructor gig with no commute and very few layovers. This is not a rare story.

If only one could have seen that coming…! Ratios already are becoming imbalanced, and it appears we think that is going to continue or get worse as pilots leave, and we cannot fill classes. SWA: it’s time. Enough monkeying around and fix this. Leading contract NOW.

Poopoo out.
Oof… That reads like every email we get at the AA Wholly Owned regionals in the begging of each year before we start parking airplanes for staffing at the end of the year.

If I only had 0-3 yrs here I’d probably bite the bullet and at least toss the app in to see what happens. I’m in my 40’s and don’t feel like starting over and yanking gear for 20 yr olds who don’t have a clue how fickle this industry is….so I’m staying put.
that's kinda my situation also. Although I was JS on United the other day and the 1 yr FO was just awarded 787 instructor. so he flys the 787 1 trip a month then instructs the rest of the time. I would consider that if I lived closer to Stapleton.
I'm sure we'd solve the instructor problem if they would allow line guys to instruct.
if I was 20 yrs younger or only had a few yrs here I'd would have been gone last yr.

Definitely. Keep our instructors for initial/upgrade sim. Outsource everything else to line guys. Eventually you should have it all done by line pilots but not sure how that’d work with an instructor cba/union.

Our instructors are union employees with their own bargaining agent operating under their own contract. Personally, I won’t pontificate about taking another union employee’s job. If we want line pilots to be instructors (like they are at most other companies) than SWAPA and the instructors union, along with the company would have to execute a ‘merger’ of sorts with SWAPA as the surviving bargaining agent. AND offer those who are medically qualified some sort of integration into the pilot seniority list if they so desire.

Yep.

One of the issues with UA’s Tumi TA and why it went down down so hard was the giving up of scope by allowing retired pilots to work as instructors at their training center - or so I understand.
