I disagree here. They're looking to expand quickly and this gets that accomplished. RH basically said the acquisition of Spirit expedites their plans by over 8 years. Dissolving a ULCC in the process is just an added benefit.

yea. But nobody has seen it . Forget which airline and one particular pay rate.. it was more about a scenario that would be an interesting play… Leaving JetBlue with very highly paid pilots to pay for ..
Certainly won’t happen.. but it would be an interesting play..

As I said in another thread, I believe that B6 has had their sights on NK for a while now and were formulating a plan to buy them when they were caught off guard by Frontier. If Frontier was never in the picture I firmly believe NK would have seen an offer from B6 before the end of the year.

I don’t think they were caught off guard. I was talking to someone in the c suite at B6 back in July, I asked specifically about B6 trying to acquire NK to solve the “lack of airplanes and pilots” problem, as well as the growing ULCC FLL competition problem, and that person answered with a non answer of “well we expect F9 and NK will try to merge in the next 12 months.” 6 months later, the announcement happened. That person also said they didn’t think B6 could participate in any M&A until the NEA was settled. So they were in a bit of a quandary, but they were apparently actively looking at various M&A plays. Based on what I’ve read and heard first hand, I suspect they have wanted to do it for a while, were waiting for better timing, but then were forced to make a move…it was literally now or never for them. As this has gone on, I think they have seen the value of the spirit planes/orders/pilots/network and won’t let it go without a large fight.

I am indeed condescending and snarky, guilty as charged. I do take issue with "emotional" though. Agree to disagree.

well to be fair, you just scored some e-points with that post. Fair enough on the emotional part, although my argument was that the basis for your entire agenda/schtick on this board is seeded in an emotional response to people who

1. don’t want to join JB
2. don’t think JB is super awesome amazing
3. don’t agree with you on all points at all times

I could be wrong. It happens a lot.
