Ha! Maybe the SLI fences off bases for a while. Hope not but we shall see. B6 is trying to expand into the midwest and away from being a fly over airline. I don't think DTW closes, at least for a while.

In Light of the union email wanting to open up section 6 immediately .. I think it wound be funny and lucrative if our management, if and when it looks like JetBlue would be the victor… to immediately up our pay to delta + $15 across the board with let’s say a 18% DC…
Our management to Robin .. “ you want us, you fought this hard, here.. it’s yours. Along with the highest paid narrow body pilots around.. you pay that tab”
If our management won’t be around to pay that price tag.. leave it in B6s lap. And of course their pilots would wanna snap up to our pay while we negotiate an entire new JCBA.. they leave behind an expensive tab for someone else to pay

NK has been slowly reducing flights out of the hubs that they are now trying to displace us out of. Theoretically, the JB business model should restore us to growing some of these big hubs that legacies compete directly with us. Spirit has said they were looking for ways to not have to compete with the legacies where margins would be lower and simply operate routes with less competition. Makes since. But that's because Spirit cannot compete with legacies when they match us closely on price. People who fly a legacy generally don't fly Spirit. I suspect JB will go directly at the legacies as they do already and will expand our operations in DFW, DTW, and ORD.

You sound like you’re new to the industry? Do you know what the term “mainline” means? It refers to the main operating portion of an airline, as opposed to its regional counterpart. For some odd reason, some RJ guys (and apparently you) sometimes refer to the big 3 as mainline, but they are only “mainline” as it relates to their particular overall operation. For example, if you fly on a United flight, it would be proper to say you were on a “mainline” United flight. Or perhaps even if you were at a wholly owned regional, saying you want to work for “mainline” would be properly understood as the mainline owner of that carrier in that context. But using “mainline” to describe the big 3 legacy carriers is dumb. And trying to insult jetblue pilots by saying they think they are “mainline” makes you sound kind of ignorant (to put it nicely). Unless of course you’re playing into the internal joke of the Airbus being jetblue mainline and the 190s being jetblue express. But I suspect that isn’t the case.

What would motivate them to move efficiently once their goal is achieved?

I might be mistaken but I don’t think B6 management cares one bit about merging 2 airlines. Stopping a super ULCC from forming is their only goal here. They’ve said it themselves, they would dissolve the brand.
