Dead on! If I wanted a “bigger” paycheck. I would have gone elsewhere. I came to NK for the prospective growth plans. A chance to get deep into the list before the next s#&t storm. Was one of the last places to do that at. Anyone at the tail end of a list should feel a little uneasy now.

If JB is successful in acquiring us, I see us making significantly more money than we would otherwise, most if not all bases with the exception of ACY staying open, and I even expect JB to place another aircraft order within the next few years.
IF you dare dispute what i'm saying.... come at me! /s

If we are acquired by JB then we get a bigger paycheck. On the captain side, JB makes about 30 bucks an hour more than we do to fly the same aircraft. We need a JCBA to move forward. JB pilots will be able to demand a pay rate higher than what they have now. Their current pay rates are in line with that of the current legacy pay rates on comparable aircraft. The legacies are all getting increased pay rates as we speak. Spirit pilots will theoretically see a significant pay raise over what we see today. Compare that with what current pay rates are between NK and F9, the baseline starting negotiating rate is far below what is being offered by everyone else. As we have seen from our own management and management at F9, they have no goals of being competitive on pay, rather "competitive" with bases.

Hayes has even said publicly that they need to pay pilots more to help with attrition as the legacies enter into new contacts.

yup jetblue will most likely convert every airbus order to A321neos (mint and HD) and LRs. And who knows when Airbus will announce the A220-500. Will replace A319s, old A320s and E190s, while keeping and retrofitting all the neos first. Don’t forget precovid, jetblue had 4 ex Thomas cook A321s ready to enter service due to demand and we’re just going to fly on the DR flights. Could see the same thing on the shorter FL - Caribbean flights until some of the Spirit aircraft are retrofitted.

Just to add a little perspective to the conversation regarding potential SLI with Frontier if that deal were to happen. Many seem to think that F9 is an easier match in that relative seniority and DOH seniority are more aligned. It's really dependent on just where on the seniority list you care to compare.
As an example, someone earlier in this thread mentioned that they held 20% at Spirit after 9 years. To compare, 20% at Frontier is a 12-2005 hire date... 17-1/2 years! 9 years at F9 gets you #490 out of 1765 on the list as of 05-01-22 or 27.76% Someone else recently referred to a 7 year person at Frontier as "senior." Uh nope. 7 years is #695 out of 1765 or 39.38%
Frontier hired zero pilots between 2008 and 2011. The hiring didn't really pick up until about 2014. There was also a big spurt of hiring between 2003 and 2007. As the old saying goes, you'll know an SLI is final when everyone feels like they've been shafted. In the case of an F9 and NK merger, I'm hoping for some blend between DOH and Relative Seniority fully accepting that it would be unfair for me to gain 10%-ish based on my 2004 DOH and hoping that an NK pilot would also acknowledge that it also wouldn't be fair to sandwich me in with NK pilots with a 2012 hire date.
All the standard disclaimers apply (to save the keyboard warriors from pointing it out): (1) It's far from a done deal; (2) We don't have any say in the matter; (3) It'll go to arbitration in the end; (4) We should send a DART to our union representatives; (5) A Miata is not a sports car; (6) A recession is looming; (7) We shouldn't fight amongst ourselves; (8) It'll take *years* before we have a JCBA and SLI; (9) Doesn't matter because the current administration won't allow a merger; (10) The NK/F9 merger is a done deal because the current administration loves the poor and wants to see a Super Dollar Store concept thrive and grow; (11) I should keep my opinions to myself because this is the NK section; and last, but not least (12) My opinions don't matter because I'm technically a Boomer.

Soooo I should order a dozen or so now, and either I’ll be ahead of the game if the vote goes to B6, or I call sell them at a premium this fall when they sell out again and make some xmas cash.
And people on this thread quip that pilots aren’t financially savvy….
