Disclaimer: I have no idea where I’d end up on the list because I haven’t cared to look. IF it happens, there will be plenty of time to look at the possibilities and let my rep know how I feel. That’s about all I can do to help myself anyway.

Lack of retention is absolutely destroying the company right now and in response leadership has buried their heads in the sand. Upgrade times have sky rocketed, IROPS are worse and unrecoverable, flying has been cut back, reserve times are endless and you are used every day, and planes will be forced to be parked as new ones come in. The "growth" plans are all but forgotten. Spirit is still a lot better than a regional, but expect SWA like upgrade times and you will be on reserve for at least a year, maybe more.

So bottom line you reap what you sow. **** on first-year guys while reaping your own - now you get endless reserve and forever upgrade times and lack of growth.
I know this opinion will be as popular as 40grit toilet paper but oh well, quit your whining if you're not going to do something about it.

A lot of people talk about coming to Spirit because it’s a recession proof airline.
I have a question then. Did Spirit not furlough pilots during the 2008 recession?

I know what you're going for here--and it's honorable--but has holes in it. The airline sent aircraft (8?) back to the lessor without penalty because they wanted to redistribute their assets in case we went out of business. This was in response to $140+/barrel of oil. Once oil plummeted, the airline went in search of airplanes but couldn't find any. Plus, the financial system had pretty much locked up money, so there was very little in the way of financing for an airline with 25 airplanes.
