So while you would lose nothing with full relative, guys on the other side would lose most of their FUTURE seniority progression. You know how important that is as you have already looked ahead at your future seniority progression and very much look forward to it.

With such a diametrically opposed seniority/age profile between the two companies, there is no perfect answer. All (virtually all) will have to compromise and give up some of their current or future seniority. It's gonna sting for most of us a little, but ultimately won't be a windfall or catastrophe.
Maybe we should do it on Relative seniority based on projected position 10 years from now? /S.

I will definitely be gone before most at NK, as we do have a really young group, and none I've talked to with around 8 years in and more than 20 years to go are planning to leave (surprisingly, imo). For me it's 20% at RS, 40% at DOH, and pretty much straight interpolation in between, so guessing I'll end up around 30%. So in seat going from 40% to 60%, and that is before I take the A220 into account. But the A220 pays better than I make now, so could always be more senior there......

Didn't ask for the merger, none of us did.
Moving forward will focus on pushing for a good contract, be it CBA or JCBA.

No way. JB pilots have more longevity. It’ll never happen. A weighted average of both is the way it will go.

Google what? NK has very few pilot that have longevity greater than JB and a large amount of pilots that were hired between 2010-15, when spirit started ramping up growth.

Sorry to change the subject…I know this debate about SLI was so interesting (sarcasm) but looks like it’s a good time to be exiting the ULCC model.

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/a...193305669.html

if this goes through. might be a more even playing field and ultra low cost airlines would lose their advantage

Perhaps but I think what is more likely is all the airlines will just raise their pricing. Spirit will still be the cheaper of them and will still stick with the bare minimum pitch and no recliner while other brands offer more comfortable spacing with recline.

Really doubt anybody is/will offer more seat pitch because the FAA is only concerned if existing seat pitch is a threat to health and safety, not passenger comfort. Seat pitch has and will continue to go one way, less. Eventually down the road Americans will be so fat it will become a heath issue risk and then the FAA will require an extra inch. Far from being comfortable
