I think the intent behind the reductions is somewhat misunderstood.
With the opening of ATL and IAH they need to ramp up the manpower fast in order to realize the efficiencies that are needed out of these new domiciles.
DTW, DFW and ORD all have huge populations to fill seats, and I'm sure Spirit and JetBlue appreciate that.

Anybody that’s familiar with a merger know if we will get new employee numbers? And if jetblue‘s employee numbers will be re-indexed as well?
also for spirit pilots, does anybody know if we will have to go through some kind of mini “welcome to Jetblue” online indoc?

Jetblue basically uses a random number generator to assign employee numbers. There is zero association with the employee number and date of hire etc.

Obviously it won’t be a full new hire ground school, but it’s also possible between paperwork/docs/blue propaganda and benefits/etc it may be more efficient to run a short in person indoc. I would imagine NK pilots would need some form of sim PC check with B6 procedures to fly on their operating certificate. Seems like 3-4-5 days could handle all this and could be done anywhere with a sim, and fly out some HR people.

They have lightly addressed this when JBlu had their investment call. They said it can be done via the iPad. In the end, learning JBLU call outs is no different than the 4 times Spirit has completely changed the AOM2 since ive been here. "Here are the new callouts and checklists, learn them, they go live in 2 weeks"
I don’t how it will go down and it’s not up to me, but it’s not a long stretch to see it may just be easier to do a 1-2 day in person indoc summary and a sim.

Which is why I said the bulk of any in person would more likely revolve around HR stuff and the “culture” that B6 is so invested in. Could it all be done remotely, sure, but we are looking at new benefits, insurance, retirement custodian, etc etc. Then we will need to get new ID’s, new tablets, etc from flight ops, could it be done by mail, sure. Could NK crew records and HR send over everything, sure.

oh the “culture” will be very very dead by that point so I wouldn’t worry.
