Very interesting story I just heard.
An ACY captain was in the DOT waiting room. He hit the send button at exactly 12:01 ( exactly when DOT opens. ) His request for the trip was logged at 12:01:10 but the trip was awarded to a junior caption already at 12:00:10 which is 50 seconds before DOT opens for us.
Guess who got the trip before DOT opens. Captain Scott . The prior union scheduling hit man that quit his position because he couldn't punish OT abusers severely enough. Funny how things work out isn't it.
Its nice to be' in the union' and learn how to trick the system. ( my commentary)

I've made that observation myself! Wouldn't call the thread worthless, but is a definite decline in the tone here since the b*tch board closed down. Almost kind of embarrassing actually of some of the types we have here......

I've put in requests that are timestamped 12:00. I'm not a union officer or on the scheduling committee. Sounds like that other captain was late to the party. No conspiracy.

I don't have an ALPA computer, it's my mac. I know the bid package says 12:01, but it starts at noon every month. No conspiracy here, move on...

Exactly. Reading some of these threads, it appears that some amongst us are grasping at straws over the lack of 'deal making' ability. Out comes the ALPA boogeyman again...yawn.

The system is flawed. Is it better than '07? Yes. No faxing it in and processed once a day at midnight seniority order. IMO, it needs to change to seniority based, and processed every 4 hours. Why is a pilot being "punished" because he's halfway between MSP and LAS. Oh. And they should all be at 150% pay.
