I want nothing more than transparency. I would hope there is no gaming the system and actually doubt there is but this secrecy benefits no one and only contributes to the conspiracy theories.

 

Really...ANY one person? Wow...I haven't seen this level of trust since we trusted guys (and one gal) not to be complete company *****s during the days leading up to the strike. (i.e. the founders of the B!tch Board)

Ok, great...so who IS that ONE person, and why should we trust him/her/them? Is it you? How do you know it's only one person? How do you know it's not an ALPA cheerleader? Please, enlighten us as to the basis of your trust in this obviously well-intended individual...I mean it's only our identity and future among our peers we're entrusting him/her/them with. Imagine with me if you will...that this ONE individual just happens to be the sleaziest scumbag in the ranks...the one who would sell his kids eyes in order to secure a 2000% super-secret deal while we walked picket lines. Are you ok with it being THAT person? How do you know it's not? Enlighten us Lemonade...let the transparency you guys constantly harp about rule the day.

It would not be a problem if it was ALPA. It could be one person or it could be 10. Either way it's a better bet than everyone in the world like the non anonymous board offers.

 

Another thing GetReal. I would only hope that we are all ALPA cheerleaders. Dont confuse critique of individual's policy/work product with a disapproval of ALPA as a representing body. I don't know of anyone personally that is 'against' ALPA in general. Don't put words in my mouth or confuse me with someone else.

I agree with you that an anonymous board is the way to go...I just think that joining one where no one knows the motives and agenda of the moderator is done at one's own career and social peril.

If a moderator moderated with an agenda it would be immediately obvious and participation would disappear almost immediately. ( easier to type than say )Much like self moderation that will occur when your name is out there. You want to be polite but never in fear of repercussions for your opinion. Give it some thought.
