Not sure but I do remember being taught if the airplane ever does something wacky, just turn off two ADRs to force the thing Into Direct law.

One thing I think I like about Boeings is they follow the laws of Physics over Direct, alternate, normal, lol

It appears that it is a reissue from an emergency AD from 2012 from a similiar A330 incident. Airbus redesigned the AOA sensor, and when the redesigned sensor was installed, the procedure was removed from the AFM.

ALPA argued that the "Blocked AOA" procedure (one ADR on, other two ADRs off, suggest usage of FPV) be retained for flight crew reference after compliance with the AD, but the FAA did not see the requirement to keep the procedure after the revised AOA sensors were installed and removed the procedure.

So this new AD after it has happened again to a 321 it appears.

This is very close to the OEB that came out a few years ago. I believe that one was more towards blocked pitot tubes because it is now incorporated into the unreliable airspeed checklist. Essentially, you are doing the same in both procedures. In normal law the airplane's protections might get you into trouble with frozen AOA vanes (or blocked pitot tubes). So turn off two ADRs and presto you're in alternate law without those protections and should be able to fly out of the situation.

For extra points.......check out your cockpit pictorial and find the alternate PFD display for aircraft 607NK and subsequent (maybe 605 and subsequent). What's the BUSS and when would it come up?
