Same here, no calls.

Yep. This statement is absolute BS. I have been late hundreds of times in the last 2 or 3 years with no delay report sent and I never got "The Call" . Anybody who has been here awhile knows that compared to other airlines the management/discipline system in place here is so disorganized and understaffed that you can get away with almost anything and not get questioned. As long as you don't bend metal, fail a drug test or beat the crap out of a gate agent or flight attendant you'll probably never have any problems. Spirits logistic understaffing and disorganization is often frustrating but can be used to your advantage.

Now thats a solid and accurate point

I heard from a VA guy one day, who said their guys have gotten calls from the CP when they had adjusted their cost index, using a higher number and not the company issued CI.

I laughed because Spirit has to be 10 levels of organization away from being able to track and call CAs for this.

I still don't get why guys change that number. If they want 0, set 0. If you need .80, select .80. I can't figure out the whole trial and error method of guessing a CI to get the speed you want. They can't track what you select.

Ever fly with the guys who constantly swap the CI from 0 to 140 or so in the climb? Still trying to see the logic in that technique.

I have.... No idea why. Selected speed works just fine.

I don't even look at the cost index on the release. I just enter what I feel like using. It's kinda comical how JS and his industry leading fuel savings program has become a pipe dream. Millions of dollars in potential savings and profit for the shareholders right out the tailpipe. When are these clowns gonna learn? High fives all around and fly it like you own it

Well, consider the scenario where you are at the head of the pack of a bunch of arrivals. They ask you to maintain .79 or better in cruise, transition to 310 or better in the descent, and comply with all speeds on the STAR. Adjusting the CI will let you do a managed/managed descent meeting all speed/altitude constraints. Whats the big deal? Just easier to do it that way.

Sure...That works if you want to do it the hard way. Or you could save yourself a lot of CI guesswork by just typing .79/310 in the descent perf page prior to TOD.

Select .79 and put .79 and 310 in the descent perf page. Start your descent and manage your speed at the calculated top if descent. Then you're not guessing on the CI.
