The "it's better than my regional" theme is part of the problem that exists here and why we will never see a new contract. It serves perfectly into the mentality our dirtbag management group wants to mold us into. Just better than a regional for pay, QOL, discipline etc. t

I didn't mean to offend you or the other lifers here, We had lifers at my old regional too and I know it sucks for you guys. I really hope this place will get better for you. However, management makes it clear they want a revolving door here, so be it. A new contract will only come once attrition outpaces hiring. I'm hoping to help you on that!

This, unfortunately, couldn't be more accurate. I used to hold out hope here but now I'm lucky to just hold my head up. The guys here by and large are great but that doesn't pay the bills, put junior through college, or plan for retirement. I'll soon but upgrading but am also beginning to apply to get myself out of here as well. I don't see a 100% pay raise plus 15% direct plus profit sharing coming here. Ever.

you'll make less than any regional your first year here

you won't upgrade if they don't order more planes

constant contractual violations (scheduling disregards sections they want when it suits them)

if your flight is delayed, expect a call from a chief. If the delay is for any reason basically other than maintenance or the gate, expect to be disciplined.

you'll have to be an accountant every month to make sure you're paid correctly (hint its never in your favor)

you'll never be able to get any issue resolved correctly without having to escalate it to the highest level.

This is just a short list of the many realities of being a Spirit pilot. Now tell me again why anyone would come here?
I go out late all the time and I've not once been called by a Cheif pilot. I also always send a delay report as to why we went out late so maybe that's why. I take great pleasure in sending them.

Everything else you posted is pretty much true.

Depends on the regional, all of the wholly owned American regionals have better pay and flow through to main line, time here is a waste if your under 50 yrs old.

Statements like this are why guys adjust the times and roll the airplane when they are not ready. Then when I show up the ramp wants to roll for the out time and I tell them absolutely not they act like I've got three eyes.

I do not go out of my way to sabatoge the operation but I also don't try to prop it up by doing everyone else's job. The out time is of little concern to me these days. Everything goes in the book no matter how small and we don't push until the entire crew, gate, ramp, and mx are ready. If we are late we are late. If we are on time, fine, but I'm not adjusting times or rolling early. If late I send an ACARS as to why. I've never been called by a cheif looking for an explanation. Do your job and you have nothing to worry about even if they do call. It's your legal obligation and why you were hired.

This couldn't be more inaccurate. You must be on the special list. My last four day and we departed on time maybe twice. No delay reports. Zero calls. Several write-ups.

Not sure what you're talking about either. I've had one call about a delay and that's only because MX tried to hang the delay on the FO.....3 years ago.
