So the petition is at about 23%. Say it gets to 50% + 1, then what? If I'm an LEC rep or on the MEC, I shrug my shoulders and say thank you.
There is a pilot all call soon. If retro is important to the majority ask the NC to run a new poll. Let the majority then make clear that retro is a hard ask.
The petition is now caught up in the character of it's proponents, good or bad. If you want the petition to gain traction, you need some new more visible, respected cheerleaders.
It would be great to see 100% full retro, all for it. Also would be great to see 100% participation in LEC elections, NC polling, and so much more.
On LEC4DFW. There are some motivated people, maybe something will happen. The fact the the LEC reps have not met in DFW since 2013 is on them. It would be a great if the MEC met in DFW next.
RECALL. Try it, you might like it.
Were the Frontier and JetBlue reps and councils in place before joining ALPA? Makes a difference. With Frontier shrinking in DEN, would not be surprised if they lost that in the future. National will spend the money when bringing in a new group to the fold. And JetBlue has how many pilots?
Looking at October, DFW, LAS, and ORD are all of similar size. So when does ORD get it's own LEC? And with the new gate construction in ORD, could be some growth there. Any growth coming to DFW?
When the G concourse is finished in 2018, perhaps FLL will double in size. It is already at @400 pilots. Then what?
Having 80 pilots out of @220 based in DFW come out for a local LEC is a start, but it is not a majority.
In the end, even with encouragement from LEC or MEC reps, National will not approve, period. And it will because of the money.

SkyBolt has been indoctrinating new hires since before C2010. How many times do I have to say it. He doesn't care about anyone's voice in dfw. It's a power play to rebalance power so he can off the negotiators to prove his point from last time. The history gets lost on many of the newer pilots we have.
As for the guy who created the petition, hopefully more pilots will wake up to his close ties to MN and other radicals who hide behind feel good statements like "one voice, unity" and draw comparisons to any airline that fit his agenda

As far as the dfw lec, the money required is a drop in the bucket. I doubt the EB would approve a new lec, even with mec recommendation until a new cba is signed in order to maintain mec stability.

Don't try and use reason. They don't want to listen to anything that isn't their own slant.

I can't speak for everyone, but I haven't been indoctrinated. I don't want to replace the negotiating committee at this time. After we see what we get? Sure, we can talk about it. If we get a failed ta? Sure, we can talk about it.
All that being said, I want an lec for Dallas. I want an lec for all bases that want one. Some bases are struggling with apathy and will never fight for one.
You may think this is a power struggle because of YOUR past politics, but all of you guys past politics are old. This is a whole new group. You guys are the minority and just because someone wants change doesn't mean we want to change back to something that YOU had before. I want to get rid of the old crap that has been dividing this group for a long time and bring in a professional union leadership. One that doesn't fight to hang on to some power it has. One that doesn't intimidate, be it at a pub event or for picking up open time. One that leads with a strong voice and with their own actions, but listens to the group. Isn't that what alpa is supposed to be?
The political power struggle is stupid and doesn't do anyone any good. I'm hopeful that as the group grows, we will find a strong membership who cares about the future. I'm hopeful that we might some day see past the old guard vs. new guard and try and actually work toward change for the better.

I have a strong suspicion that Squeaky banana is MH. The "I just want a just world" spiel sounds familiar.

Justmeagain, it's funny how your a new hire in here, with only 8 posts, yet you know all the players involved. Maybe you aren't who you say? Lol

You are right, I will stop entertaining these trolls.
I want to point out earlier someone commented on why the petition was aimed at the MEC and not management. The reason we have to go this route is that when this becomes a resolution we can require management to give us ponies, but it has no teeth. The MEC must ratify any agreement the NC hands to them before it reaches the pilot group for a vote, they are the firewall. By requiring any contract to contain retro before it is ratifiable by the MEC in turn requires management to agree to it. It might seem like semantics, but legally we wanted to make sure the petition could be turned into a word for word resolution and not change anything. If we changed wording when it goes to resolution it may cause some who supported the petition to back out, or the naysayers will use that as ammo to shoot it down, claiming that was not what the petition was for. Basically just making sure that the petition mirrors any resolution and keep the message as transparent as possible.
