So about the issue of not being able to SC/FS a WB reserve with two days available left...

Can the company slap FDOs on the back end of normal reserve days to get around this? Does this mean LAX 777 crews that are flying domestic trips are bullet proof once inside two days of the end of their reserve period?

The only protection is for days prior to immovable days (GDO, HDO, VAC). They will bypass you but can still assign you because your RDOs are rollable.

A global fleet follows global rules regardless of wether the trip is domestic or international.

Except for 756 crews that is. The LOA 48 enhancemennts effectively create a third category outside of basic and global.

That is incorrect LAX 777 is bid as a basic category. All days off are HDOs. The base has to have a Global flight to be bid as a global base.

I stand corrected then. Apologies.

So in effect they get the benefits of basic rules and LOA 48?

Yeah, it was a hell of a deal! And the CAL guys attempted, albeit unsuccessfully, to get the 757-300 included as widebody based on the premise that it carried more pax than a 767-200.

As much as I disliked Mr. Pierce, its fun to see other guys get on here and try and rewrite history. The 767-300 and the 757-300 should have both been put in the widebody category.

Airline Pilot: "I can't believe we got management to give us widebody rates for 767-400."

Management: "I can't believe we got the pilots to fly 777s and A-350s for 767-400 pay."

You Sir, have won CCS and Flying Together for the week (not the whole internet; just the United-specific portion).

I imagine a split-screen scene, with the NC on one side, and Company management on the other. Both lead roles are played by Charlie Sheen, and as they walk off triumphantly, both sides say "Winning!!"

Bottom line, it's better to have more pilots at the higher rate! CAL 767 pilots were getting paid the same rate as UAL 747 pilots pre-merger. The only ruffled feathers were some of the 74 guys (and some UAL 76 pilots who were making less than their CAL counterparts) who thought they should get paid more which, at the time, was unrealistic when compared to rates across the industry.
