As soon as you’re on property, you’ll have the ability to bid in any vacancy bids that occur... There are also seat locks A320 and B737 can’t bid the opposite airframe for 2 years and could only bid up to 756. If awarded 756 can’t bid down to 320 or 737 for 2 years.
Thanks for that!

Default New Hire Classes and Drops

This just in....verbiage changed from “regular new hire classes this spring” to “regular classes going into summer and beyond”.

From pilot hiring:

Thank you for your patience as we continue to communicate to you regarding upcoming class dates at United Airlines.

While we currently do not have confirmed class dates past March 3, we do anticipate regular classes going into summer and beyond. We are committed to keep you as informed as possible as we know you are eager to join the best airline with an extraordinary employee culture, global route network and fleet structure second to none.

As an airline flying the world with an expanding fleet structure, we have worked hard over the years to ensure we are prepared to withstand challenges such as the coronavirus and 737 MAX issues. Our widebody aircraft are being redeployed as we increase hub-to-hub and trans-con service to locations such like LAS, CUN, PHX and TPA. Additionally, for more than 93 years, the safety of our customers and employees at United has come first, which is why we are cooperating fully with the FAA’s independent review of the MAX aircraft. We will not put our customers and employees on the 737 MAX until regulators make their own independent assessment that it is safe to do so.

While you await a class date, we would like to share some information with you which continues to highlight United is the place to be!

We recently opened the newest extension to the Western Hemisphere’s largest flight training center, holding 8 sim bays, all of which will be occupied by April of this year. This will total 40 full motion sims with more planned in the future.
United continues to lead the charge with the most comprehensive global route network, including world-class international gateways with non-stop or one-stop service from virtually anywhere in the United States.
We have optimal hub locations, including hubs in the four largest cities in the United States. Additionally, we operate a fleet of 807 aircraft, with many of our aircraft being the most fuel-efficient among US carriers.
We were recently recognized as a Top 50 Workplace for 2019, placing United among the best and most innovative Fortune 500 when it comes to corporate culture and employee engagement.
We recently signed a purchase agreement to become the only major US carrier to own a flight training academy and announced an exciting pathway program to United Airlines called Aviate.

In 2019:
United set a new company record for most mainline departures, with nearly 800,000 departures.
We are number one in on-time departures at all hubs with direct competitors.
We launched 11 new international routes including direct flights from Newark Liberty International Airport to Cape Town, South Africa; Prague, Czech Republic and Naples, Italy.

We truly look forward to welcoming your family to ours. If we can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact.......yadda yadda yadda.

Pause in classes is much better than the alternative; starting Indoc and then being sent home (without pay) for a year or more...

Not if you are military facing retirement or separation. At least indoc comes with a seniority number.

Seconded. I used Charlie for resume and app review and he was awesome. Way above and beyond on his part as he answered many additional questions I had at a later date and never charged me for the extra. I owe him a lot of beer!

Maybe I will be, maybe I won’t, but others that I know will have issues. Not everyone’s life situation is the same

so you’ll be up 30 seniority numbers by getting hired and then immediately furloughed? You think that makes a real difference? I’m sure many would prefer working at their current/other flying job and earning a paycheck... even it’s only for a 6-9 month period.

This is coming from someone furloughed twice and with a retirement.
