Yep, as the cash dwindles.

For all you newbies and those who think they know it all, welcome to the real airline business!

Historically the airlines hire to the day they furlough. 1968, 1979, 90s 2000s and now 2019. Hmmm, there's a pattern here about every ten years the same thing happens.

Now for you stock by-back experts, do you really think it was about "propping up" the price? There is so much going on with insiders in the financial industry it would make your SOP driven eyes spin and water. While it may not seem moral it is legal.

I hope this class cancellation is only temporary, but if I were near the bottom it's probably time to make sure one's financial house is in order. And don't burn your bridges.

I’m Pretty sure the 570 were actually on property... united employees who were trained and sent home to wait for the strike to start.

What? Us regional guys don’t take LOA’s when we leave the regional for a major. We resign.

If you mean ALPA as the "they," ALPA went to court, paid them strike benefits, got their jobs back and then their seniority. If you mean UAL as "they," they fired/terminated the 570 for not crossing the picket line and claimed they were never really employees and lost that argument in front of a judge.

The 570 are not examples of a reduction in flying and subsequent furlough.

My regional has an employment LOA that allows us to come back within 12 months of leaving for a major, cargo, or LCC.

The idea that 23 of our peers are somehow beneath being treated like professionals by our pilot recruiters should be disgusting to every one of us. That is unacceptable.

Agree. If they promised something, you can’t remove that offer 3 days prior to the start date and expect to be viewed as professionals. If they need to furlough them a week later, so be it. But at least stand behind what you have offered as a professional organization. If the offer was a month out, that would be a different story. I hope united will change their decision on this.

Might be a slippery slope. Big distinction between cancelling class/ stop hiring vs furloughs. It breaks a psychological barrier. If they're going to break that barrier and furlough, they may do the math and see if it makes sense to furlough a couple hundred.

Plus, 3 days is no notice, but some of those people may be able to get their jobs back vs
a week into class and they've filled your position or it's simply been too long.
