From what I could tell, this was consistent to LAX as well.

No thanks...
Commuting sucks, period.

I ended up on the ultraguppy so it was pretty close.
Ultra guppy?

If you had the same choices from the 9/11 class and you had to commute through IAH, what would be your top 2 or 3 picks, and why?

I commuted from IAH to LAX for a couple of years. Pretty easy commute. Lots of flights, no weather delays, numerous airlines (UAL, AA, Spirit, and SWA to hobby if needed). IAH-SFO would be a nightmare for a junior commuter I'd imagine.

Does this mean hiring should be increasing dramatically? My thoughts on the job fair less than a week away is that it’s a blanket quick interview and most people will get a interview from it. There’s 600 attendees, maybe a third go somewhere else that’s at least 400 interviews, maybe half or so get the job that’s 200-300 people in class...3 months worth?

Maybe, maybe not. But it does look promising.

1) FWIW, Hiring is already aggressive, and has been since the beginning of summer. This was a major improvement to the plan to wait until fall.

2) This is only a single vacancy bid. With ~450 retirements a year there will be movement and bids like this one. It's the combination of bids that tell the story, and not just a single one.

considering i don't have a dog in the fight, i don't really care. That's why i said it was "interesting." Yes I understand WHY they do it, i'm just saying In a business where EVERYTHING is seniority based, this is interesting.... pilots junior to said pilots are getting a choice where the senior new hire doesn't get a choice. Aren't you glad the company can't do that to you line guys? And yes i would be happy with whatever i got if i was in a UA new hire class.... life isn't fair
