Ah ok. We have a captain in EWR on the 320 that continuously answers an interphone call from the cabin with "hello, this is your favorite captain." And he is everyone's least favorite captain. But, hey, if you say something enough times maybe you can convince yourself it's true.......

Very new to all of this...
Looking at the snapshots, I see two pilots that are in my desired base/seat trying to come to my base/seat... from what I can tell neither of them is listed in the base trade process... It looks like we'll all get what we want (these are very junior movements with lots of unfilled vacancies on each side)... but would it be smart/faster/easier to reach out to these folks to try to see if we can do a base trade, or just let the vacancy bid do its thing?

Isn’t it quicker though? With the vacancy award manpower planning doesn’t have to lateral you right away.

Since this vacancy will give a lot of people the BES they want, I'd say just let this play out. The problem with a base trade is that you have to have someone from the other base who wants to trade, whereas if he's going to get a base award anyway, it saves a bit of legwork. And I would think that by the time you got done jumping through the base trade hoops, taking a vacancy bid would be quicker.

Wish this were true with IAH 320 FO, lol. Looks like my only way to get in is hope for additional vacancies or go to 73 after my seat lock is up.

It is quicker in the fact that it is effective for the month it is run for. However it is slower because it runs 2 months in advance. In a couple days the JULY trades will be awarded and thats when it will be effective. The next base trade month will be for AUG.

The problem with IAH 320 FO is that it's overstaffed according to the min/max bulletin. Min is 129, max is 155; currently manned at 155. Several IAH 320 FOs are bidding off of the BES but not enough to create vacancies on this bid yet.
