If you are bumped out of a seat (320 Capt to 320 fo), you should get CA pay till your trained. Once bumped and trained, then FO pay. There should be no “carve out” where you get to keep your CA pay as per the AIP rumor. Someone has to pay that difference and it shouldn’t be on the backs of other pilots.

The carve out, if true, is the only way to get the TA passed!

This is a rush job to get the bottom 3800 to vote YES. If October 1 comes and goes, those votes are gone.

For the middle tier, the carve out guarantees more YES votes.

The top tier? Who cares, they got 50% + 1 already!

Read 8-F-4. Cancelation of displacements. Canceling displacements is good thing. Only canceling 2/3 of displacements to buy just enough votes, now that is another issue.

After reading two forums and several hundred responses about the supposed AIP, I would like to throw my no vote in the hat. If all the rumors are true, and yes I will read it first, this does the bottom 1/3 no good, and I dare say will hurt them (and full disclosure, I am in the bottom third around 2867).

As others have stated, a lot of us will receive a fairly significant amount of money to just leave. In my case 5.5 months and some vacation payout. This gives me 6 months to figure out what I am gonna do, and I feel like this is plenty of lead time. The truth is I started preparing in March.

Second, I feel like both ALPA and the company are putting the pilots in a tiered class system. Call it the lower class (bottom 1/3), the middle class (middle 1/3), and the upper class (top 1/3). I dont know about the rest of you, but I DO NOT want to be part of a tiered class system designed by the both the union and the company.

Finally, I am 45 years old, and in my opinion, this is gonna be a long event. Recover could be as short as 2 years to as long as 10 years (opinion only as no one really knows). At my age, if it last 10 years, I have to consider alternative careers, because coming back at 55 to salvage an aviation career seems to be a poor decision on my part. I will do what is best for me, and my family FIRST. The rest is a very distant secondary thought including protecting others jobs. Sorry as I am sure that will be a hard truth for some. Sorry for the length.

Someone else can see the scheme as well, let’s hope others as well!!!

Once it gets past the MEC and passed down to us, it’s a done deal. We’re going to pay the price for this folly for years to come.

A folly indeed, where someone gets bumped out of a seat that they can no longer hold, and being paid for that bumped seat by other pilots pay cuts (if the “carve out” is true).

The rule of thumb is simple: Even though it may appear to benefit you personally, if it’s in any way concessionary, vote NO.

The company will figure out a way, if they haven’t already, to worm their way out of any “guarantees” they have made. It’s the same story every time, but unfortunately there’s always a batch of new guys who have to learn things the hard way.

I would hope that this TA will save the 2850, but if the threat of Chapter 11 looms on the horizon, they’ll be back for more concessions or simply take it to the judge. At that point, any mitigation will be meaningless and our bargaining position will be the only thing that is mitigated.

Something else no one is talking about. Most airlines would love to reduce manpower in the slow season. I almost worked at a charter airline during my first furlough that furloughed every year in the winter season, so it was just a half year job in the summer. Are we setting ourselves up for this in the future?
