Pre-COVID, I was 20-30 above the line. Now, I can only hold NB FO, but haven’t gone to training...sitting about 60 below the line. Some far Jr to me, who trained, will be NB FO lineholders at CA pay. Sucks to be me.
I would guess you must be well into the top 2/3 of BES, because the displacements were specifically designed to block most NB CAP out of WB FO altogether. So yes, UNTIL flying picks up there will be some folks who will fit your profile, well above the G before and now stuck on reserve. Hopefully it won’t last long.

You guys want to make wholesale changes to the way we are compensated then please do them during normal contract negotians and not during abnormal economic spasms while we have a gun to our heads. The company has billions in cash and billions more available for a price. We are not bankers or charity workers. And in 10-12 months there might be a vaccine. Once this reduced monthly pay cat is out of the bag it's never going back in. Not with the type of spine that ALPA has exhibited during my career.

I have been here a long time and don’t like or want to see anyone furloughed. But we are on the cusp of paying for the mitigation of furloughs by reducing mpg and accepting an A,B,C scale. Once that cat is out of the bag, the fat lady has sung. UAL pilots went on strike in 1985 because of a A and B scale and now we are possibly accepting an A, B and C scale. We are about to become seasonal workers. Good grief.

Sounds reasonable. But we have a contract. They have billions today but they don't want to spend them. They have access to more billions but they don't want to borrow them. They want US to go full-on Kumbaya and do the heavy lifting. To pay for their flexibility. They will use this event to set the stage for the next bad news event and the next. They want the ability to shrink the airline as they see fit whenever they see fit, forever. Seasonal fluctuations? No problem. Recession? "No problem! The pilots will gladly take less because this is such a cool job!" We are on the cusp of institutionalizing migrant worker status. It's their problem. We fly, they manage. Did they offer us more money when they were flush enough to buy 9B in stock?
But now its all about US helping THEM save some MONEY. Only, it's couched in Jobs jobs jobs. The 9B they pi$$ed away? Forget about that. There are a lot of layers to this onion. But they want us to focus on just one. To make US the boogeyman. Are any other airlines pilots considering this?

Where are you getting the idea that pilots will be paid for seats they aren’t occupying? A small percentage of displacements have thus far actually been trained. If the RUMORS are correct (again, no TA yet) then the pilots who have a displacement “award” but have not been trained yet will have that “award” and the associated training canceled. That’s people like you, if I am understanding your situation correctly. And, people who HAVE been trained will be restored to their previous position (SFO 756, etc. TBA). Easy for the company...it’s literally a day or two of training. So they save beacoup $$ on all the costly extended courses they DON’T now have to do, plus with no furloughs what the hell else are they going to do? Park 5000 people as NB FOs? Additionally, with the cargo flights going gangbusters they want to leave 787/777 pilots right where they are, indefinitely. That has put a twist in the initial displacement plan, and will I’m sure foreshadow what the “Kirby bounce back” might require staffing-wise.

SK: We don’t need that many captains and pilots anymore since no one is flying. But we can cancel their displacements and restore their pay rates if you’re willing to take a reduction in mpg for every pilot on property.
ALPA: Hmmmm, so we take a reduction in mpg and have an A, B and C scale and our guys don’t get displaced so we are ready for the big ramp up when the public decides to fly again in 3 years. Yes, we will take it.
