The lyrics were nuts. As in, no way in hell is my daughter going to listen to that crap.
I wonder if Adolf Hitler is going to gin up one of those cool videos where's he's having a delusional syphilis induced rage while standing about the table. Naturally he's enraged he can't hire enough women and minority pilots for the Luftwaffe.
His Generals and Field Marshals don't know where to find them. They can't find minority pilots. What to do?
Hitler won't stand for it. We must have an "Aviate-Luftwaffe Academy" Frauline-Fliegen-Minderheit-Luftwaffe-DeAcademy-En Avion
Cue the Hitler video..............

I wonder what the one woman will say to the other when standing in the hallway 🤔

You guys sure are uptight. I didn't really care about the lyrics... Aside from "don't rush," they weren't all that clear anyway. I certainly didn't go Google them to go pick the song apart, line by line. But if that makes you happy, sure. What I noticed was, the song had a catchy beat that went with the very creative video. It was interesting and captured the idea of our colleagues dual lives at home and as United pilots. I especially liked the one where the lady appeared in uniform and kissed her daughters goodbye, the look on their faces reminds me of how my daughters look when I put mine on. I thought it was creative and interesting.
Seriously. A cute, creative video by our colleagues and you guys are fully "pitchforks out!" Kinda makes me glad we have an increasingly diverse pilot group, to be honest.

This is my point. People here are talking like the airline is dragging the bottom of the barrel to come up with minority admissions. The reality is, some of us may have gotten into flight training with impressive resumes, but most of us were just inexperienced kids with an interest in flying and maybe a little potential. Going through the training & the industry was the process that separated those of us who wanted it most or had a little more aptitude from those who didn't. We can talk all day long about whether or to what extent corporations should be involved in creating this type of social footprint, but the idea that the airline can't diversify its zero > career ready training pool a little bit without putting a bunch of smoking holes in the ground is pretty regressive & obtuse, in my opinion.

They use the "situational interview" to judge talent.
Tell me about a time.....No, not in junior high. Now, tell me about a time...No, not in high school. Now, seriously tell me about a time....No, not in college. Like when you had a job. No, not about a time when you were waiting tables. Now, seriously, tell me about a time where you had to use leadership... No not at your frat house. How about a time where you had to communicate....No, not while you were umpiring a little league game. Now, seriously....

Since this conversation keeps drifting to the idea of hiring minority pilots with reduced criteria, it bears repeating that the initiative in question is about finding minority candidates to include in the Aviate program that trains prospective candidates from zero to the career stage so that they arrive at that point equally qualified among their peers.
Hiring a woman with a wet ATP & poor flying skills over a dude w/ multiple engineering degrees & left seat heavy time has nothing to do with the Aviate diversity goal; but it is a much easier position to attack.

It’s a new day my man. Just a few years ago the regionals couldn’t find enough applicants. Technology has really made the process more efficient. These kids are at home flying virtual airlines in A380s and triples in Virtual as well as augmented reality. Had one show me how to start the gpu. He was in his early teens. He didn’t know the flows but knew the General concepts. For them the whole set up is simplified because they were born in to technology. All us old heads need to do is mentor them when they sit in that right seat. Someone did it for us. We are tradesmen

Please go ahead and explicitly state that you believe this necessarily requires lowering those objective criteria on behalf of said minority/female candidates.

How does one compete for the training? I get the hiring one but technically it’s a pay to play kind of deal for pilot training outside of the guard and military.
