Start there. Then ask your local reps for a copy of the United MEC Policy Manual.

If I'm reading the ALPA constitution and UA ALPA policy manual correctly, only the MEC can vote to remove a MEC officer? There is no ability for the membership to initiate and vote on a recall? If true, that's unbelievable. Fox guarding the henhouse.

We recall the LEC. They recall the MEC.

The only way we get what we want and deserve is by replacing a bunch of LEC Representatives who will in turn replace the Master Chairman who will replace the Negotiating Committee.

It's been done before and the end result was a much much better deal within a year with FULL RETRO PAY! Ask your Delta buddies how Master Chairman Donatelli and his TA worked out there around 2015.

If we can't / won't do these necessary things we will get another very bad concessionary TA from the same people who brought us this one and it will far outlive any 2 year amendable date bull****. Remember, the much loved L-UAL "Contract 2000" only lasted 18 months, the bankruptcy contract lasted 10 YEARS!

And don't fall for the latest spin being foisted that this was all some kind of 3D chess being played by those smarter than you in order to unify the pilot group.

This TA has been 3 or 4 years in the making - it's Insler's baby AND as his faithful sidekick EVP at ALPA National, Hamilton's too, it's the logical extension of the Pandemic TA.

Keep in mind none of the principles involved in this have flown the line in YEARS!

If you're not in C-5 please forward this to your friends who ARE in C5 - better yet - forward it and also use it in your own Councils to get rid of the concessionests!

What has to happen for us in EWR Council 5 is the recall of the lone YES voter, F/O Representative McCullough. Ideally an F/O should floor the recall resolution which can be very short and sweet like this example:

July 10, 2022

SUBJECT: Recall of Council 5 LEC Officer

SOURCE AND DATE SUBMITTED: United ALPA Council 5, 10 JULY 2022

Whereas: The pilots of United have been in contract negotiations in excess of 3 years and the TA produced has been approved and fully supported by Council 5 First Officer Representative McCullough and is grossly inadequate and demonstrates a failure of his duty to represent the will and direction of the pilots of Council 5.

Therefore be it resolved: the pilots of Council 5 direct the officers, or the ALPA National VP Admin, to schedule a local council meeting to consider the recall of Council 5 First Officer Representative McCullough.

Feel free to copy and paste this into your own and send it to Chairman Johnson. TELL him you want it placed on the agenda for a meeting ASAP!

In order to get this done we each must contact both EWR C5 Chairman Glenn Johnson and ALPA National VP/ADMIN Couette and demand a meeting be scheduled ASAP for this purpose.

Don't let them slow roll us into the middle or end of August - time is of the essence in getting him replaced and sending a message to the company AND the Union that the concession stand is CLOSED!

Glenn Johnson can be reached at - [email protected]

Bill Couette can be reached at - [email protected]

We have to get hundreds of Council 5 pilots to submit the recall resolution and then send these two emails telling them to schedule a meeting!

Please BCC me back in those emails so I can keep a running tally of how many are calling for the meeting. [email protected]

YOU may have to give up a day off and drive/commute to EWR to PHYSICALLY ATTEND this meeting!

Remember that proxies are electronic and must be completed NLT 24 hours prior to the meeting too.

Together we can change the course of events here, like our brothers and sisters at Delta and Southwest have managed to do multiple times, but we each will have to actually DO something.

A vote to recall the negotiating committee was shown as discussed. Meaning they didn’t take action on it and “discussed” it. The usual split with one abstention.

True but dangerous words Times/circumstances are different. So the collective wisdom of a few line pilots who probably never did union work now know better than their reps. Oh darling, this is priceless. Pass the popcorn sugar. I bet they're gonna elect that Barton fella. He's a real peach!

Please start by emailing the Council Chairman and requesting a recall for the specific representative be placed on the agenda for the next Council meeting.

While I’m not 100% certain if the Chairman has to add a recall to the agenda. If the Council Chairman refuses it looks really bad.

In the past at CAL we initiated several LEC Recalls by requesting the recall in writing to the Council Chairman. Each and every time (to my knowledge) the recall was placed on the meeting agenda.

The exit to “looks really bad” went by awhile ago. Not sure they’d be deterred by that at this point.

For those not familiar with the ALPA LEC Recall process it is overseen by the ALPA Vice President of Administration. I believe that is still Bill Couette.

I would CC Bill on any correspondence with the Council Chairman requesting in writing a Recall be added to a meeting agenda.

Once the Council Chairman sets a meeting agenda with a recall on it. Only those council members in good standing who attend the meeting and those attending holding legitimate proxies are the only ones who vote for or against recall.

If the recall passes LC meeting only then does a secret ballot to the entire pilots in the base start. So make sure you load the LC meeting with appropriate recall voters or the recall will fail without
the entire base membership voting on the recall.

So the rep recall is a two step process.

Step 1 : Get a recall on the LC meeting agenda. Pass the recall at the LC meeting.

Step 2: Recall passes by the majority of entire members in good standing of the council by secret ballot (just like the TA vote).
