Maybe not the “biggest” problems, but definitely need to be addressed before moving forward. I personally am tired of the same old rhetoric of: “we got you money this time, next time we’ll get better work rules.” There’s NEVER a next time. Fix it now.

Yup. All of those things could actually be good with choice and pay.

FSB lines actually went senior at my last airline because you usually credited in the mid 90’s. No one got forced into them. Many locals were happy to spend most nights at home and make an extra 20 hours of pay to just have to sit at the airport for a few hours.

Make getting rolled into days off opt in the month prior then bump up min days off by one or two for those that opt in, and make lost days pay 100%. I guarantee there are enough money hounds out there it would barely affect the company’s ability to bounce back after irops or general flexibility while greatly increasing QOL for those of us that just want to be at home on the days we bid off.

FDOs being gone for global really isn't a win. You can only be rolled into a basic trip on an FDO. While the 777 does more domestic than the 787, let's be realistic, how often is a 777/787 pilot being rolled into a basic trip? If we keep the same number of days off all that's really going to happen is that FDO will now just become another RDO. Congratulations, you have just as many rollable days as current book.

Agreed. FSB, rolling into a day off, etc. all could be covered voluntarily w/ the right compensation structure. Just like PPU, there is never a shortage of guys who will do extra work for more $$$. Just get rid of the company’s ability to force these assignments on us. They’ll always be able to cover anything they want if the price is right…

Get rid of all that rolling/moveable stuff. You're either on, or you're off. The end.

OK, but progress on FDOs is being made.

How often is a 777/787 pilot tapped to fly a trip from reserve now, and how often are their FDOs now being used? This is a real question as I’m not a widebody guy but I’m considering it in the next couple years.

FDO is really irrelevant for the most part in global reserve. But they can and roll you into days off even in other bases for RDO. This past week I was rolled 4 days into days off into a trip that was made up for to be in another domicile (DH front and back). I didn’t get compensation but somehow I was the one least affected. I knew it could happen when I made the bid, I am hoping it changes in this contract.

for people saying reserve isn’t a big item for them, it still affects you even if you aren’t on reserve. The less trips are coverable by reserves the more premium there will be for lineholders.

… & more reassignments too. Any changes to our reserve NH slave ship need to be accompanied by complementary iron clad language in our reassignment rules. I’m not talking about compensation for reassignments, but the things that prevent reassignments in the first place. Under the current book, less reserves available=more reassignments .

there would be more reserves if lineholders were incentivized to pick up trips , such as premium etc. reserves on long call are hardly ever used for reassignment

There will be less reserves available for SC & FSB. That is a given. Whether people would pick up PPU that would exist on a short notice as a result is a guess.
