Also taking a decent pay cut (if successful in interview). What are the options to work + make more? What does picking up open time look like and are there any options to do so out of base?
You can expect days off after approximately every 5 days on, now it may only be one day but you will have it off. You will get a couple of days off during Basic Indoc as well after the first 5. Positive space back and forth home if you desire on those days off as well. It’s not a bad pace at all, may get to be a grind if you end up with multiple early morning sim slots though.

What others have said is a as far as what’s on paper is 100% correct, but how much that will yield will come down to domecile and equipment.

I’m not sure where you are coming from, but since you are taking a Huge pay cut …I’m guessing an ULCC/LCC…

I will say across all domiciles and fleets………there just isn’t the predictable chaos that spawns a high a volume of opportunities for working at rates above normal hourly compensation the way there is say at JetBlue, and I presume other non legacy major shops.

That is not to say that some don’t get a fair deal of premium…….but it’s not gonna find its way to you 3x a month until you get a little seniority.

If you get rolled into days off on reserve (mostly a WB issue) you get 5:15 add pay and the day off restored. There’s also add pay for stuff outside peoples control , late arrivals, extended duty days etc
reserve is 73 hours, except summer (June, July, august), and December, which adds a day and gives the 4:17 reserve day credit.

also, unused short calls are no longer add pay. It’s an hour extra MPG (which I strongly dislike). The add pay was only during the time it took to implement the new contract changes. So, it hasn’t been like that since August 2024.

a good way to get extra is to pick up a trip that starts before 10am on your first day of reserve (2 hours add pay). Also, if you’re on a short call and they give you a trip that starts soon, if you can report fast, you can get 1-2 hours add pay.

I went from maxed out NK to FYFO. I am lucky I could afford to just accept the cut, and not have to make up the difference. In my 2 months of training I averaged 105 because you are working a lot of days (M-F). In my 10 months on the line including OE I have averaged 84Hrs. I did some aggressive pickup but that was to avoid getting trips I did not want, not for extra money. Mix of line + Reserve. All the extra credit I got was add pay for disruptions and one 1 day trip at 50%. Got a good start for September, got RR into a day off, 10Hrs add, and an extra day off, to come home a day later... If you need the $ bid a line, look at the pool to trade days down, and pick up in base if you don't commute. Last minute premium is FCFS so spend the $1.99 on crew companion text alerts.

More importantly, spend the money on the interview prep, to increase your chance at getting the job!

Yes this is bothersome to me as well. To be fair….if you are breaking guarantee…..not too many of those Short Calls are going to be unused.
But yes…if you break guarantee ….you just have to work that many more hours for free.

you don’t need to spend money on Crew Companion text alerts. Just download CC Notifier app and set it up using the QR code.

Umm, that data is at least a year dated. I’m guessing you don’t use CC notifications do you? You must use CCS. The cost is $1.95 a month for 3k messages.

The cc notifier app still works as advertised. Just download the app, scan the QR code and you get banner alerts for your notifications.

It’s free.
