The operative word in your statement was “competitive”, I would say just straight 1000 hours SIC 121 , I don’t think would ever be considered “competitive”. That is not to say that people with that little time don’t get hired, but it won’t be because of their vast experience.
I could be wrong though, I’m not in any hiring groups or anything like that.

Do you mean 1000 Turbine PIC 121 time?

Another guy said 4000 TT for a CP meet and greet but that my volunteer and other experience counts to "lower" the bar so to speak. So idk.

competitive? No… not saying that you couldn’t get the job with that but when you’re up against Mil pilots, tons of people with thousands of hours of airbus or Boeing PIC time. 1k as a 121 SIC doesn’t exactly put you on the short list. Probably more the bare minimum than competitive.

Basically what I was told.. I have a few connections to some folks to include an LCP and one of them essentially said for me to be recommended for interview I needed 1000 121 time. Not 1000 121 TPIC. It seems that what's competitive has come down some with the huge hiring numbers coming back. For context, I have an extensive volunteer background with a short military (non-flyer, officer) career behind me. Maybe that's helping.

That wouldn’t seem t be currently competitive, but once the backlog of applications have been cleared from pilots bailing from NK, F9, and JetBlue, then all the Aviate and Military UMPP applicants, other military pilot applicants, ACMI guys, other regional Captains, and anyone else with serious multiengine TPIC, that MIGHT become competitive.

this might seem harsh to the person who asked the question but it’s completely factual. My interview group had a long time fedex guy, A350CA, mil pilots etc. 6 years as a Bus CA made me feel like the smallest person in the room. Lots of hiring going on but even more experience lined up to get those spots.
……of course minimums be they competitive or not are very fluid……but 1000 SIC……I’m not sure that even would be competitive for like JetBlue, Alaska, Southwest and Frontier…..sure wasn’t when I got hired at one of those granted it was a different time.
If he has an in, he has an in……and as we know LCP golden ticket recommendation can make you really competitive but it won’t be because of one’s aeronautical experience.

That’s really why I was trying to draw attention to the “competitive” phraseology. I think the person asking the question is confused as to bare bones minimums and competitive minimums.
