Wasn't the company going to phase out CC at some point? What ever happened to that?

CC says it has been pushed back until April '26 with the UAL option to extend if they haven't implemented their in house replacement.

The last bid that had Captains had a guy that was two years in get a left seat slot. The new hire captains are all trained now and those are essentially 15 month to 2 year guys.

So its hard to say.

That said we’re supposed to have a big vacancy bid with captain slots in a couple months and another one first quarter next year. Supposedly. That’s from some internal planning updates given to us.

So that’s all to say it’s hard to say what the upgrade time is right now. If the captain vacancies happen as we’re told, we’ll know then. Anyone that gives a definite answer on upgrade times is just making guesses.

couple years? Who even knows anymore. Lots of deliveries next year. Economic and world uncertainty.

between a year and 15 years would be my guess. Probably 5, if I had to pick a number for someone hired tomorrow.

Massive moving target for sure. Anywhere from 1 to 15 is a good assessment, will be base dependent for sure, but probably closer to 1, assuming the wide-body growth train starts moving like its expected to and the hiring meets projections. SFO and EWR will likely remain among the more junior.

Theres a big difference between upgrade time from a vacancy and most junior captain. Most junior captain is probably at 15 months currently, but the next vacancy, whilst obviously not changing that persons longevity will award captain to more senior people. So do you go buy who’s most junior or who will get it next?

there hasn’t been a true NB vacancy in a while,
so there will quite a bit of FOMO people moving around followed by a dip again to lower seniority as that initial thirst is quenched . I think after a vacancy or two the awards will be around 2 years seniority. Becuase of how big our WB fleet is ,
many people stay there or ride the high seniority on right seat NB , those factors haven’t changed

Just curious, are there specific volunteer groups or places United likes to see you volunteer for? I volunteer at the local public library and have been thinking about volunteering at other places as well.
