NPS...No Personal Sacrifice. I am not here to ensure UA gets a warm fuzzy from their email surveys. Fly the plane, don't bend it, be polite, go home. That's my job. I am not staying to say goodbye to the customers; I am not leaving the cockpit to thank them on the PA, and I will not bend the knee to help them "get likes on the gram." My LayoverLife can handle that BS. I am doing my job and going home.

I actually do think I’ve made a reasonable effort and I’ve been unsuccessful so far. I’ve tried every time I’ve come to work since it started. EWR doesn’t accept walk-ins and (in my limited experience) doesn’t have appointments available at 1 day notice. Being on RSV I don’t know more than a day out that I’ll be there.

I’m sure I could get one if I flew in for it special, or stayed a day after my trip, but I’m not there yet (and probably never will be).

you are being too reasonable. But not reasonable enough for our gun-ho army 03! If you haven’t traveled to a nearest brooks brothers store and tired to match the sizes that they might have similar to the uniform on your day off, you failed!!!

I have gleefully canceled my appointment on my day off after seeing this thread. Thank you army troll for preserving my day off. I almost forgot that after 20 years of .mil, my life is mine again. GOBLESS

What a shame (for you). A lot of people, myself included, feel that there is something magical about climbing onboard a fire-breathing miracle of human ingenuity, and disembarking in a whole other place. I felt it the first time that I sat in a TWA 707 going from LAX to JFK, and I still feel it today. Without sacrifice there can be no rewards, so my advice to those new to this business is to take some time to get to know your passengers, not only because that is the best way to "keep uppermost in (your) mind the safety, comfort, and well-being of the passengers who entrust their lives to (you)," (your ALPA code) but also because it's way more fun.
p.s. I was able to schedule a uniform appointment on a work day, but to be honest it was a waste of time, if I had of just ordered the same sizes it would have been fine.

In case you missed the 707 reference, I'm way too old to be using AI for anything 😉

News Flash… company (and the rest of the 17,000 pilots working here) don’t care if you attend a showcase fitting… let me say it again, we don’t care. However, if you have a body shape/size that needs extra help (can’t buy a suit off the rack) then probably good idea to go in person so you don’t look like a clown. Whatever method you pick you have until October 31st to order it online… once you get this stuff in the new year you can exchange it, tailor it, or buy some JC Penny pull on slack to wear… all good!

Options for ordering your new uniform:
1 - Showcase events: Most remaining appointments exist in LAX and the FTC. Check availability here. These events are optional. Due to demand, walk-ins are unlikely to be accommodated.
2 - Online: Order your launch kit via the United/Brooks Brothers website.
Orders must be placed by October 31, 2024.

See, you and that guy prior to you are reasonable.

A lot of guys on here seem to enjoy doing the absolute bare minimum as a point of pride, and would order a poorly fitting uniform with glee. Looking like a clown would be way better in their estimation than wasting an hour of their precious time. You, I and several others have pointed out some common sense ways of finding your sizing so that you can order a uniform that fits. It's not that hard.

But hey, it is what it is. We have 350 pound pilots and guys who wear black sneakers and the planes still fly, so I guess it doesn't matter that much. Not something I personally subscribe to, but if people want to look awful, I suppose that's their prerogative.

You were denigrating your pilot group.
