737 vs 320 for new hire and future progress

There are over 250 Airbus on order, not counting options. That's more than enough to replace all the older A320s and A319s as well as the entire 757 fleet and have planes left over.
The 737 MAX 10s are being converted to MAX 9s for now. We just converted 48 MAX 10s to 9s just a few weeks ago which is why the new hire classes went from estimating 200 a month in November to 200 a month starting in September. The first 2 classes of September are already being filled. 60 in each class.

Removing the A350 (because they aren't coming ever) order from that count, the Airbus on order wouldn't cover all the 319/320 and 757s. There is 182 NEO and XLR orders to cover 217 hulls between the 757/319/320 on property today. There is currently 286 guppy's on order still to be fulfilled
United also sends of the 319s to smaller destinations. DSM, GRB, TYS, CID, FAR etc. I don't see, personally, a NEO (and likely never an XLR) getting sent to places like that. They'll use a guppy 800 to replace it.
Just my two cents, there is far larger future for Boeing NB than Airbus NB in the next 5-10 years. A smaller fleet, a pilot friendly aircraft, with highly desirable flying will get stagnant and stay senior.

59 NEOs to be delivered between now and the end of 2026. This doesn't include the XLR deliveries. So I would say that is a significant number. Also 20-24 787s are going to cause a lot of movement as well that we didn't have this year.

I think it will be a mixed bag. The longer range stuff won’t appeal to many (me included). But the fleet as a whole is already somewhat stagnant. I don’t see that changing even with the addition of new aircraft.

Here's the current count.
44 321 NEOs delivered already.
86 321-271 to be delivered.
40 leased 321 coming 2026-2027
60 321-251 were supposed to be delivered after 2030 but they are moved up and we are taking other airlines deferred slots. We start getting them in 2026 now.
50 321 XLR.
This is 280 321s total. They keep adding planes to the order book, as other airlines have cancelled their deliveries. You can see them all on the Fleet Website.

% wise that’s much larger growth on the A320 then the 737 due to current fleet sizes. The unknown is the old 320 retirements. That being said, some of our 737’s are getting older too?
