Does anyone have an idea what is going to happen when UAL recalls pilots who are working for CAL? I have heard rumors of flying being shuffled around and if you were to go to CAL now as a UAL furloughee, you may be based in IAH now, but in a number of months could see yourself moved to EWR or ORD or somewhere else you hadn't planned on being based. I heard the company was going to move Airbuses to IAH and 737s to DEN for frieght to south america. Any other rumors?

ALPA is negotiating with the company. The Co wants to move 737's from IAH to DEN and ORD and some A320 flying to IAH. ALPA has proposed they do TDY until a contract is signed and the company is supposed to respond this week.

Yeah, UAL side will park just enough planes so recalls won't be an issue

If you the bottom 20 or so pilots on the list you can indeed get moved around. There's a seat bid every 6 months or less and each time there are usually a handful of adds or subtracts in each seat (at least). CLE was junior then they shrunk it so EWR was junior then they shrunk that so IAH is junior. Each time there are folks at bottom who can end up migrating around.

Have heard from both union and EWR CPO that 737 flying going to other Hubs will mainly come out of IAH.

That's what the company would like, but until it happens on paper there is no sense worrying about every little rumor from the training department or CPOs (because you know that's where they all start). I'll give the two MC/MECs and the company the opportunity to hash something out so that NONE OF US have our lives upended anymore than needs to be until we get a JCBA.

Got this diirectly from LC and MC. They were told of plans from the company to build up the flying at new domiciles and IAH is the source. aWhere else can it come from. Relatively speaking, IAH 737 is best staffed...that's a fact. Whether it is a TDY or domicile opening, makes no difference...the staffing will be reduced in IAH, to support others hub flying because IAH is doing the most flying/trips into Den and ORD. Someone's life is always upended when these moves come about...as a commuter and someone that experienced a big hit in seniority and QOL, when 30 percent of the flying left EWR for IAH...only to see IAH guys overnighting in EWR. For many in IAH, it was a ceiling, for many in EWR, it was the floor. I hope you are right and they can reduce the negative impact, .but
seniority ..will drive it ultimately

Slammer I don't know where you heard IAH 737 is best staffed may not have their facts straight. I hear from both my lax and cle reserve buddies that they don't break guarantee while I fly 85 or more every month on reserve in IAH. I'm sure EWR is not much different.

CCS staffing, EWR LC rep, manpower and living it first hand when 737 was gutted to move south....you still have that 30 percent manpower that was shifted 3 yrs ago to IAH from EWR. EWR reserves are routinely in the same boat you are in....IAH is now the junior base because of the move and EWR senior. Just the opposite of when i was hired here years ago...Can't compare EWR or IAH to CLE or LAX.
