Interview Calls & Hiring Predictions
#482
You guys, this argument is pointless. For those of us that have worked in other industries, hiring high time FOs is the equivalent of two guys interviewing for an upper level position. Both guys have been in the business for the same amount of time, both have all the qualifications to do the job, but only one was able to move up to the next level shortly before interviewing for this job. The guy who held the higher position just pretty much showed up for work and went home, while the other guy has more education, more involvement in the workplace, more community involvement, ect. Who do you think they're going to take?
Every pilot who has gotten hired at United since hiring began this cycle has had the same Interview, regardless of qualifications. We all did the 90 minute panel, and we all did the 90 minute sim, where in addition to basic flying/instrument skills, our CRM and decision making skills were evaluated. We flew from the left seat and were the acting PIC for the entire flight. United had the opportunity to look at us in a pressure situation and determine what kind of captain we will be. This was not an HR person in the sim, but a current check airmen and sim instructor for United. In my opinion, anyone who is here deserves to be here. I dont care if its a 8 year RJ FO or an 8 year RJ CA. We were all held to the same standards when our apps were pulled and we were all held to the same standards in the interview.

Hmmmm....my panel interview only lasted about 40 minutes and my sim ride was maybe 45 minutes. Guess I am just that much better than everyone else.
Joking of course...about being better anyway. I don't know anyone whose interview or sim lasted that long. Everyone I have talked to had a similar experience to mine.

I emailed them and they said usually people put it under work history with no salary or as a list under the misc. section. I've done various stuff since high school but nothing for real long term since the airline schedule is not flexible at all if you're junior.....so I listed mine in the misc. section.
