Please don’t come here.. we don’t need more yes men and “ happy to have a job/better than my ****ty regional” types like yourself. OCCP can be negative at times but he’s right about how bad things are here. I’m guessing your a regional guy (no issues there I was one to) or low end cargo outfit and think AS is a great place to work.. it’s not.

While some people have left here for real legacy airlines...We also have guys at Ala5ka leaving for regional airlines, Emirates, and Kalitta. If that doesn’t scream to you to stay away from this miserable place then I don’t know what will.

Not a yes man. Anybody who has ever worked with me will tell you that. I've just worked at a number of jobs in a career that so far spans over 22 years - some better, some worse - so I know when I've got it good and when I don't. I know people at Alaska. I know what's going on there. I know people are unhappy with the situation. And I know that the problems you have are not the worst thing anyone is facing.

EK and Connie, that's really a lifestyle choice. Some guys like the idea of being gone for three weeks at a pop and enjoying exotic locals through the fog of jetlag tempered with booze.

I used to fly with people like you at my last regional, so much kool-aide that their teeth floated. Banged the company drum, earned a 1% pay raise in the middle of the greatest pilot shortage of our generation because they thought they were doing better than Honduran banana sellers. Do everyone outside of your company a favor and stay where you are, we’d like to keep at least what we have.
And this, right here, is the typical overreaction we see on this board time and again.

Lol!! Some of you have lost touch with reality.
First world problems.
Yea, it can and should be better, but to act as if it’s a slave ship? Lol!
Talk to people down in Honduras who make in a year what you make in a day, all while working MUCH harder than you ever will.
Always try to better your lot, but to say or imply your job is awful is almost the definition of disingenuous to those around the world who REALLY work for damn near nothing.
However, I expect nothing less from OCCP, one of the most miserable, negative people I’ve ever seen on this forum.
Time to quit, OCCP. You’re gonna die young if you don’t.

I don’t think so. Alaska is a “legacy” and I do use quotes around that word. As such, it should only be compared to other legacy carriers in terms of pay, QOL, scheduling, and general career itself. As it stands we lag far behind the other big 6 carriers. JetBlue with their new contract are many strides ahead of us, and that was their 1st ALPA contract whereas AS has been around 84 yrs.

BS. Let's be real, you'd have to be an idiot to leave AS for a regional TODAY. They're all getting worked to the bone. If you got hired by AS, you don't need AA flow to get on with another major if that's your goal. Only way anyone would do that is if divorce was the only other option. I know one guy who had to quit a legacy to go back to SKW because his wife wanted to live in a certain non-commutable SKW base (her family was there, they had three kids in school, and she's a high-end specialty MD making ludicrous bank. And she's hot. I would have quit too.).

Then we have a couple idiots I suppose because there are several who left for regionals.. as one person above left for DEC envoy captain.. it speaks volumes about Alaska.
For the record the pilot who left for Envoy is a great person. He saw how terrible this new more to love airline is managed and the immediate resulting downslide of QOL and made a move.
