That would be me! But I only compare pilot jobs to other pilot jobs, not some dude in Honduras selling carrots to his neighbor.

I used to fly with people like you at my last regional, so much kool-aide that their teeth floated. Banged the company drum, earned a 1% pay raise in the middle of the greatest pilot shortage of our generation because they thought they were doing better than Honduran banana sellers. Do everyone outside of your company a favor and stay where you are, we’d like to keep at least what we have.
You really have no idea what my situation is, although you could get one with a little bit of research before popping off with another round of "my airline is, like, the worst EVAR!" But of course, that takes time, and time is in short supply when you have to post another message telling the world you're part of the most oppressed pilot group in the history of aviation and don't you come here you company-drum-banging rah-rah kool-aid drinker!
Maybe you're unaware that it's possible to appreciate how good you've got it relative to other segments of the industry while recognizing the problems where you are and working to better your own position. I recognize that whatever problems I have where I am now, it could be worse. I also know it could be a lot better. I guarantee you that given the choice between having your problems and having my problems, you'd much rather have your problems. I would too. I would much rather be working to better my situation from your position than mine.

Is Alaska mismanaged, yes. Has Alaska’s future become murky, yes. Has Alaska mishandled the acquisition, yes. Does Alaska need a management overhaul from the top down, yes. Is there room for many improvements, yes. Is Alaska a terrible place to work, no. I came from a terrible place to work and know the difference. I suggest, if you haven’t already, everyone on here complaining about how bad it is, take the time to send JL, BT and BM along with your base reps, an email respectfully stating your Union speaks for you and you wish to be heard. Otherwise all the complaining, *****ingnmoaning, and hate towards AS is no better than a toddler throwing a tantrum because they didn’t get the exact flavor of lollipop they wanted. It’s time to do something about our situation.

Let's trade places for a while and see if you still feel that way after a few months.
Kalitta would be an improvement for me, and I'm considering that if the situation doesn't improve here soon. I'd consider Emirates if I was single or had a family that wanted to live in Dubai, but I'm neither of those. And I doubt anyone much over the age of 35 is leaving a major airline job for a regional unless they're in a special circumstance like the SKW guy with the hot doctor wife where he can afford to have a job that's more like a hobby than a career.

I will say, it is sad to see the vx culture go away, and moral going away with it. But I have worked for way worse companies and as of now life is pretty damn easy. If you let every little thing get you bent out of shape, you will never be happy. Just show up to work, you know your schedule, roll with the punches, eat good food and drink good wine on the road, then go home.
That being said I think there are lots of ways to improve, and the latest MEC video speaks to the frustration of the pilot group, and I think everyone will be aligned for 2020 ready to rock for what we want/deserve.

AK isn’t the worst place but the only thing the company cares about is that planes continue to move. It blows my mind to see what horrendous and worthless pairings the pilots and scheduling committee will put up with when all it takes is a few guys calling in sick/fatigue to get them changed.
Now the company is telling us that they are coming after our hotels and guess what? The union will put out a stern letter and the pilots will complain on the forums but the planes will keep moving because really, it’s an easy job and life is good...
