Ideal set up would be 767 and/or Polar captains with FO's that were involved in the union at their previous job as the new exco, in my opinion at least. The rumors of who are running sound like the same old same old though.

Not only that, but we need to press to have a good negotiating committee in 2016. I'll just say it: Post-merger hires with previous union experience, Polar folks, or more junior Atlas-side 767 captains who haven't been completely brainwashed into completing the "mission" through some sense of duty. The 767 CA I heard at the breakfast table in TPE recently grumbling about the Polar paintjobs on the -300Fs needs not apply.

Also, I'm all about getting outside professional help for the upcoming negotiations, but that'd have to be left up for a vote by the membership.

Some other items that would make atlas better:
Guaranteed vacation days AND days off awarded in the month.
Guaranteed training days NOT on days off in the month.
Gateway basing, which would get rid of imputed income...and it could be worldwide gateway basing.
3 sets of lines: 18 days on, 16 days on and 14 days on....and you bid for the length of time you want to work/get paid. Netjets does this...
All pilots paid by seat/years, like UPS.

I'd like be able rollover vacation to the next year. Maybe up to like 6 weeks maximum for FOs and 8 for captains. Or 6 weeks until 5 years and 8 weeks after that. Then maybe I can get vacation where it doesn't overlap my patterns' days off. That's not really vacation, it's just paid time off. Vacation should be in addition to your already patterned time off.

Why a difference between CAs and FOs? Strictly based on longevity makes the most sense... We have lots of 747 FOs who are senior enough to hold 767 CA, but would rather not bid it due to pay/QOL issues. Wouldn't want to punish them for that choice.

But I agree with the rest of the premise!

For what it's worth, this has been a great place to work...lots of good people, great equipment and good QoL overall.
That same reality exists for every single legacy/major carrier out there. The willingness of a "dozen" people willing to trade places doesn't seem to affect the pilot group at FedEx, UPS, or others in working to improve their contract.

My idea was two checkboxes in the monthly bidding schedule.
Box 1: I require all my vacation days and all my days off in this bidding period.
Box 2: I require that all my training days be awarded during my days of work.

If you check the box, you do not lose any days off. If you don't check the box, then you can bid as you normally do.

This is all good discussion however it has drifted considerably from the thread purpose. Perhaps the union/contract discussion, which is a worthy one, may need its own thread?
