I've consulted the index, but didn't find this info: during training in Miami, do you have weekends off? Do you have any days off? I've heard references to rare days off. Are they one at a time? Or time to jump seat home for a day or two? Any method to the system? Thanks!

Those of us currently in training had a break over the Christmas holiday. Otherwise, ground school is 6 days a week (Mon-Sat.) during FTDs and Sims your schedule is all over the place. One on one off, some guys have a stretch of four off, etc. if you wanted to try to go home, you'd be on your own to get back and forth.

I haven't seen an all R1 line in CVG in recent memory. In fact, in the Januray bid package there was only a single CVG R2 line. Oddly enough, I think there have been more CVG R2 lines in the JFK bid packages over the last couple years than in the CVG bid packages.
The vast majority of lines in CVG have at least some Asia flying on them. There are only a handful of "domestic" only lines (by domestic I mean flying the DHL sort nightly), but several 60 day lines are split between Asia and CVG hub flying. Out of approximately 30-34 lines (which seems to have been the average over the past year or so), there are usually only 4-5 reserve lines, and most of those are R2 in TPE or NRT.
Hybrid lines, which have 3-4 days of R2 or sometimes R1 at the beginning or end of the month are also common.
One thing to be aware of on the 767 in CVG, you will be paid off of the trip rig. Our lines do not have enough block hours to break the 62 hour minimum, so you end up getting paid 4.85 hours of credit per 24 hours away from base. In just over 2 years, my highest block hour total in any single month has been 45 hours.

And, what would you say your average monthly pay credit was in the last 2 yrs? How about days off?

When can you signup your family for ZED tickets and possibly flying them to MIA to visit?

Can they change your schedule while you are already home on your day 2 of 4 scheduled days off and ask you to be in training and cancel your original off day 3 and 4?

Yes. I enjoy my job but the hardest part was initial training. I would plan to stay because scheduling plans change often. You could perhaps ask the training scheduler if you had a 4-day weekend but I would be trying to get back 2 days early just in case, they don't take kindly to not making it. I would venture to say it's unlikely you will be able to go home at all unless you live pretty close. Also no interline fares available until you're there for 6 months so plan to buy a ticket for your spouse if you want them to visit. On that note having them visit can also be tough because about the time you start to miss them, things get pretty busy. Again, not saying any of these things can't work out at all but just be very cautious about how you go about them as a brand new hire. I agree fully that it's not optimal but you need to plan for the possibility of being away for 9-10 weeks.

FYI. Many people around here are terrified of jump seating so you will hear the never go home line alot. If you are a veteran of the commuting life it probably will be doable. You are not on reserve, but you are on probation so tread lightly. No one is going to call you at 6am and demand that you are in class or the sim today and the only message I ever got was a question if I can. ID's are out the first week and CASS is usually about the same time. YMMV.

You get your badge so some time in the first week. Cass takes a couple of weeks. Like some said your schedule can and will change frequently. You and your family are eligible for the ZED fares after 6 months.
Not unheard of to climb into the sim at midnight, start programming the FMC, and get booted to accommodate some other crew. With how busy the training center is going to be, you'll need to roll with the punches.
