It was always only "front seaters" as far as the displacement goes. I emailed BM and tried to get him to clarify that but he blew me off.

There are only two ways if you are the most junior members on the seniority list to leave the most junior position on the seniority list: Vacancy award or Furlough. Displacement can occur only if those on the bottom of a respective excess list have someone junior to them to displace.

There are some smart people working for BM, and I am really perplexed why he couldn't get his messages right.

Also, so many of us have made ANC our home (I know there are a lot of people that can't wait to get out, but some of us call this home now) now that we have to uproot AGAIN, only to wait how long to come back????

This is insanity, and very depressing. Who's driving this bus anyway?
The biatch of it is that I am about 85 from the bottom. For the past 2 bids I have wanted to plumb. Our contract does not allow this. I have called the office and someone tried to explain to me why but I just don't get it. How does me not being allowed to downgrade preserve seniority? These scenarios surely weren't thought out. I offered to the IPA and company to plumb so that a guy that didn't want to, junior to me, didn't have to.

I love my job, this is where I always wanted to work and can't imagine anything else. One poster above says this is the worst he can imagine. I have truly had a gravy boat experience as an airline pilot. When I was 18 I said I wanted to be a UPS pilot by the time I was 30. I was such an idiot, I had NO CLUE how lucky I would have to be to pull that off. Some how, it happened. I worked for Continental Express in 2001. There, for 2 years, I moved backwards. My upgrade was delayed over 2 years. When things turned around I couldn't keep track of the jumps in my seniority. I just have to shake my head that it is happening again to me. I look back and am so thankful that I had job, for one, enough guys behind me to keep me flying, and the right attitude to deal with what came at me each morning.

I might be naive , not experienced enough to fly international, or just too young to know better to some on here. I will say this though, we all have stuff we can complain about. Really, does anyone listen when we do complain? Lets just keep our heads up and be appreciative of what we have.

I think the number of additional FO's that end up as FE's after the displacement will about equal the number of senior FE's who receive bid awards. I think this number will be about 30 or so.

From the Realignment Vacancy Bid, a lot of junior FE's will receive FO awards. That could be deceiving. After the Displacement Bid, because of their juniority, they will be displaced right back to the FE seat, along with those additional FO's replacing the senior FE's who left.

Some CPT/FO's in SDF may choose downgrade over ANC, which will decrease the ANC numbers displaced.

Interesting Miller would blow you off, thought it was just the junior among our ranks who never got emails or phone calls returned from the union!

If you're not a 88 hire and having 4 stripes don't bother waiting to get a call from BM, But you still require to pay your union dues. No wonder this place is split 50/50 and they're wondering why.

Those SDF Captains that downbid will force the junior SDF F/O's to Ontario/ANC, which will force more junior ANC F/O's to the panel. What am I missing? If over 60 ANC F/O's upgrade to Capt in the lower 48, plus 30-50 of the most junior ANC F/O's get sucked to the panel because of the over 60 F/E's upgrade; then wouldn't that mean that there will be around 100 F/O spots up in ANC for folks that are currently based in Ont/Sdf? Ouch! Somebody please explain to me why this thinking is in- correct. I hope I am wrong.

Roberto, thanks for the clarification. Now why not let Tiger plumb as he wants to? In fact, why not let all those guys plumb if they want to and be closer to their families. I know that this would be difficult, and ANC is an exception, but its not so much the pay (a part of it is) but the constant move and shuffle is whats getting me, and you cant tell me that it is not costing UPS money right?

If some guy wants to plumb, but can hold a FO line, pay him FO pay, he's closer to home and family, and thats what's truly important.

And for those about to point it out, yes, I would take FE pay if thats what my #held but was allowed to stay put. IMO of course..... and all hypothetical I am sure.

My experience is that BM always returned my calls... even as a FE and FO. Sometimes there is so much going on and so many other calls that the call may be a day or two later...but he always returned my calls.

Please try to call if you have a concern...

why do they bother doing this? From the way that sentence is written, they would upgrade someone 64.9 years old.
