Wasn't arguing your point, more of a general comment after reading many posts and flying the line listening to many complaints. There are some guys that are so angry at the ND's. I have 25 years to go, how can I possibly predict that I will be were I need to be in 25 years. For many, hopefully flying past 60 is not a requirement or even option for them. I was just making the point that guys are very quick to celebrate their current status/situation in life and not always think there are others not as fortunate due to bad luck/timing/decisions. Pride comes before the fall ...

No worries man, just stating my opinion. I think some need the money, some are greedy, and even more sadly, some don't have a life outside of this job. I've got 31 to go if I go to the new age. If I'm doing this past 60, I'm either doing something very wrong or life would have given me a huge kick in the jimmy over the next quarter century...

Agreed, they should have invested in cash/bonds not stocks. No pity for the geezers!

Am I smoking crack or what? According to 14.F.4:
In a realignment vacancy bid there will be no transitions or
upgrades to excess vacancies.
That's what I read also but the loop hole around our necks is the reference to Sec E of Art. 14...

So they are working for nothing, cept some benefits...Ironic

The well know (or maybe not) strategies of "retirement savings/investment" evolving as an investor nears retirement, was missed (a claim but maybe there was no plan to retire) by many of the O60. So a quick review for those here; If you are thinking about retiring within the next 5-7 years, remove your ASSets from aggressive growth funds/stocks and into bonds and money markets for security...

Quit the over-60 BS. Waste of time and ****es everyone off. It's done.

Let's talk about what everyone JUNIOR really wants to know--
How far from the bottom of the overall seniority list do you need to be to avoid plumbing vocation school? 100? 140?

I don't agree with the mean spirited bashing but criticism is expected. We all have some tough story about the past... But the real B-Buster is how the age 65 implementation affects the future plans of those seeking to retire in 20 years. If you remove 100K from a O60 guy he just lost 100K from retirement funds. If you remove a 100K from a person 20 years out (assuming no additional savings, growth at 5% is $265,329).

Compound Interest Calculator

So, assuming the junior guy's pay is reduced 40K per years as a result of FO to FE trasnsition (2009 pay scale), three years would be roughly 117K...the affects are real...

I hope its less than that. What really kills me is that we were told 30-40 crews, and nows it's 30-40 front seat guys, not "crews" off the -8. Also, so many of us have made ANC our home (I know there are a lot of people that can't wait to get out, but some of us call this home now) now that we have to uproot AGAIN, only to wait how long to come back????

This is insanity, and very depressing. Who's driving this bus anyway?
