I'd really like to know why people expect to get immediate responses from their applications. I really would. Because these questions pop up in every forum I read. Within a week, somebody always wants to know if anyone has been called from the application window that ended literally only a few days ago.

It's not an expectation of the company, it's a quelling of an insecurity. As every company processes applications differently and communicates on different timelines, it's challenging to cage hopes. These forums provide a means for geographically separated peers to share our experiences and help fill in some of the gaps we have with the process. I apologize if my question offended you, I was merely wondering if others had been contacted as an initial indicator and gauge of my chances at landing a position I'm really hopeful for.

The HR department will need a few days to sort through the applications that meet the minimum requirements, and then pass them to those that will be part of the interview process. After selecting those applicants that they want to hire, those individuals will be asked to interview. It’s your job to lose at that point. Omni doesn’t want to waste your time if they are not interested. It’s a small company trying to do their best, as efficiently as it can with the hiring process. Good luck.

If you have applied before, you'll know they are quick!
I applied 2 windows ago when I was still waiting to compete my FAA ATP checkride and got the TNBT letter 3 days later. The fact that its taking longer this time, can never be bad news.

I know every bright-eyed newbie out there is stoked to advance their career. I was one once. My advice to them is this: Chill. You can't make the phone ring. They're either going to call, or they're not.
I have more years behind me in this screwy business than I have left ahead of me. I have been applying for my "dream job" at every opportunity for at least the last seven years. I simply can't imagine how frazzled I would be if I was waiting on pins and needles for a call every time I submitted an application. Heck, in January of last year I did get a call for that job, and was told to expect a call for an interview "within a few weeks". I waited all year for that call. It never came. I have reapplied twice since then. And every time, like clockwork, somebody asks within a week of the application window closing if anyone has been called yet.
So just chill. You'll live longer and be happier.

Expecting everyone to act the same as you do... “So just chill. You'll live longer and be happier.” Two sides of the coin, I suppose...

Ah, just wait until you read the 9000th iteration of, "Has anyone been called from the application window that ended three days ago?" You'll get there.
