Has anybody that recently interviewed been given a December or January class?

For the most part they fly their own revenue in their charter/vacation segments along with the sched pax service they offer. Cargo wise is only a small portion (maybe 10 a/c) at this time, and given the rates that are rumored...I don't think they will be operating it (cargo) at a significant profit. Too many other 73 operators remaining at the bottom who will continue to see the AMZ growth experience. For an ATSG carrier, they can and will well afford the increase in attrition vs a much higher employee cost. The work can be covered via overtime and the every changing f/o list as people will simply come and go. It's worked so far at ATLAS, ATI, ABX, etc., with some luck the tides may actually turn forcing management to reconsider (don't hold your breath).
They can only afford the attrition when they have a large number of QUALIFIED applicants waiting to replace the pilots leaving. They do not. At the rate the majors are hiring, a trend likely to continue for several years, the applicant pool is quickly drying up. The past models do not work.

Not sure how ABX is, but they've been bugging us to please volunteer for OT right up until just recently.... much Get a higher attrition rate, and we'd be giving flying away. Lower margin is better than zero.

What's worked in the past, isn't going to work in the present or near future.

ABX lives on overtime flying/pickup. It's an Achilles' heel for us in a big way. As an ATSG carrier I would warn you that is a modus operandi of how they (upper mgmt) thinks. There is a serious belief about trimming the fat, keeping crews beyond the word short, and hoping to cover the ups/down with overtime. We all know the industry and where it is heading, management seems to think their carriers are doing fine and while not filling classes, every mornings staff meeting seems to show all the trips covered. Or they come up with reasons to deflect why something wasn't. As mentioned before, Omni is late to the ATSG game from commitments to be hands off. Those fences are coming down so we'll see where it goes. Hopefully y'all will come up with a great contract, moving the ball forward, and life will be good. Of course they will have to deal with the others who want 'me too' items or what the future section 6 will look like (which I don't think they want to see....). I've got a few more years in the stands to watch and see it unfold.

I would not be surprised if there would be. We just had over a dozen people leave just last month alone. Hiring is happening although they are having a hard time filling classes.

Sorry if this was mentioned already, but how long is training, where is it, and are hotels provided?

I don't feel Omni or others will have trouble filling classes(10 or less per class) as such but the bigger concern for them and others will be how long can you keep them on the property. With everyone hiring and applications submitted everywhere, musical chairs will be played frequently until the music stops. If they are really losing 10-12 a month then it's problematic based on their total numbers.
