According to what I see on the displacement list, I see 41 Captains being downgraded to an FO slot. Whether they're being displaced to the triple from the left seat of the 76, coming to the right seat of the 76 from the left seat of the DC-10, or just being down graded from the left seat on the 76.

I am in the bottom 30, so yes, I'm a bit nervous. However, trying to stay positive. There are some factors that I think/hope will save us all and the company not need to furlough. Attrition being one, captains being downgraded who were street captain not wanting to stay here at the big "O" as an FO, and the outlook of people retiring this year. I don't know how many we have but I know there are some who will be forced to in the upcoming months.

Per the list, I see at least 4 captains, that I know of, who are in training or a line check airman who are being downgraded too. That could lead to the slow down of actual training and transitions. Hopefully long enough for Omni to be able to bid for flying in September under their own tier.

The rumor mill has it that any furlough would be pretty short-lived due to the expected increase in flying for the 2013 fiscal year (starting in October). Of course, all subject to change. I don't think the company will be want to get caught with their pants down in the mean time in case there's a sudden need for increased troop movement (read: Iran), but that's just my opinion on things. Training will also take a good long while.

Hang in there...I also don't think many of these downgraded street CAs are going to be sticking around to pull gear. I'll bite my tongue on what I thought about the whole street CA thing, anyway.

You have to wonder about the whole "street Captain" thing. In a furlough they'd be among the first gone if you furlough in seniority.

That's actually what will happen if furloughs do come down the pipe here.

All street captains and several junior captains will be displaced when this is all said and done. This is going to create a training nightmare for Omni.

Approximately 30 FAs recalled this week, hopefully a sign of good things to come. As always, rumors abound...

Maybe now the FA seniority list will grow to be larger than the pilot seniority list again. I still haven't figured that one out since we are an all pax operation.

Default Hello Omni pilots,

I have become interested in ACMI outfits and would like to apply to a few in a little over a year. I know things aren’t looking too good right now and the flying isn’t for everyone, but this industry changes every few months and the challenge and unique opportunities ACMI flying brings intrigues me.

I would like to start preparing for interviews because I am sure there are a lot of things that are literally foreign to a domestic 121 regional pilot. Does anyone have any good material, books, or tips to help me prepare?

If you end up at an Omni interview, just show up with some basic instrument skills (for the little sim eval, which is not a big deal), and a personality that people can be around for 18 days at a stretch. Honestly, if you're invited to Tulsa, the job is yours to lose.

Any updates over there at Omni? Talked to one of your sim instructors today and he said he heard maybe some hiring late summer.
