They've historically used a lot of 1 and 2 day trips while opening a new base. The first month of operations in Seattle will not be a good sample or example of how the base will operate.

How commutable is PHX with LAX? How quickly can a new guy hold LAX?

Thanks

I'd say it's pretty easy as you can commute on your own metal. Lax is the junior base.

Starting next mo we only do 1 flight on Saturdays between Phx-lax. I do the commute already along with everyone and their mom. Even a lot of JetBlue guys who are based in LBB commute out of LAX

LAX is a junior base and every new hire starts there. As far as the commute from PHX is concerned, it's a hit and miss. I'm one of the 'millions' of PHX-LAX commuters, and that's the biggest problem. There are many flights but the number of pilots commuting makes it rough when the flights fill up (and they are pretty full most of the time). The good thing is that it's a short flight and if you don't make it on one flight, there's another one pretty soon (probably with another group of jumpseaters fighting over the last seat). Overall it's better then other commutes, but it's definatelly not a walk in the park. Oh, and don't count on Compass to do the flying all the time. Delta switches between us and Skywest very often. This month we're doing 3 out of 5 flights a day on average, next month starting on June 5th, it's all going to Skywest except of occasional flight once a week on Saturdays. I don't know why but the schedule changes all the time.

I have more than 1000 121 sic and am typed in the 170 already I just can't upgrade at my current regional due to seniority. If hired now when Could I realistically see upgrade? Or am I too late for that boat? I know a lot of FO's are being bypassed because of lack of 121 time. I'm sure this has already been answered already so I apologize in advance but we all know how fast things change in the regional industry.

Very quick. They're down to a 7 mo upgrade right now and it's getting smaller. I wouldn't be surprised if you could hold captain in 6 months or less. Which 4 of that will be for training/IOE

I've been told from a captain at compasse that in the future the upgrades are gonna stabilize around 2-2.5 years.
