They’ve pulled that trick before. Once reason I never answer an unfamiliar call.

In theory, yes, but in practice, no I don't see this at all. During Feb (slow month), I had a GS in for a 5 day trip in open time. Scheduling instead split it up into 3 pilots. One of those pilots operated the first leg with me DHing in the back, then he was done and DH back to base while I walked up to the cockpit to fly my portion. I'm all for 3 of us getting paid instead of 1, and I'm no scheduler but how is that genius?

We both ran the trip through the rules auditor and both of us had no violations for the original 5 day.

see above. Some guys ws a trip with less than that before showtime. Don’t remember this happening very often before we allowed 2-days-prior coverage.

I often WS these last minute broken trips. Only way for me to get any extra credit while doing an "easy" broken up trip. Specially since there's not a chance I would hold that trip if it went out as a GS.

Chalk me up as another who will W within 2 hours. There are at least 6 or 7 others in my small category who will do the same.

It happened plenty before 2nd day coverage, especially down in ATL. There are a fair amount of pilots who clear their schedule and live on this short notice trips. When bid packet trips are terrible, clearing your schedule amd credit surfing is a much better option.

As an outsider looking in- is it easy to “clear your schedule” and basically drop to zero for the month? What are the stipulations or conditions in order to do that?
